Kevin Harvick A Million Dollars Happier

Saturday May 19, 2007
Tonight's NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge evening was the tale of two very different races. The NEXTEL Open qualifier saw a bunch of crashes as drivers scrambled to make the big race. Then the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge itself was pretty clean until the final segment saw drivers turn up the aggression.

This event highlighted why NASCAR needs to rush the Car of Tomorrow along. The Car of Tomorrow is less aero-sensitive and has provided much better racing so far. Tonight's race was as much about track position as anything else. It is very difficult to pass the leader with these old cars and the fans suffered tonight with fewer lead changes.

Did not get to watch the race, which is bs. What the heck is it being on speed channel? They sure lost alot of veiwers. I don,t have a dish or the higher channels so that sucked. If it wasnt going to be on fox they could have put it on TNT.

(6) Captain Wizard says:

Kevin Harvick this, Kevin Harvick that…..Wah-wah! All you people do is bitch about something! Drivers you cant stand, I dont have SPEED Channel! Lost a lot of viewers? Come on, That was one of the coolest races in a long, long time! COT, COY, whatever. This was a million dollar shootout! This was some racing worth watching! The Bush babies took eachother out, that was funny. That was a neat twist to the same old, “same old” Go knit something you old bags!

I did not get to see the race either, because they put it on the speed channel. I wish they would learn to tell us who the top 20 drivers were at the end of the race. My driver is #8, & I would like to know what place he finished in. Bite me Captain Wizard!!

Speed Channel?….Yes this sucks,Nascar will always be second fiddle to Football untill they start showing everything on Network TV…Im not paying $70 a month for cable TV or satalite TV….But I did listen on the radio and missed alot of commercials so it wasn’t a bad thing.Im happy for Mr. Harvick,He ran a good race,It was good to see the 17 get a penalty,Im sure they are cheating somehow with all there Superfast Pitstops..They are a good team..but they Cheat!..Good race for Tony Stewart,He didn’t win but he finished…The 600 will not be very exciting until the end,but like all nascar fans,i will watch it.

(11) lisa says:

Although Kevin Harvick is not the driver I route for, congratulations to him. (I am a Dale Jr. fan myself). As for the Speed Channel, we moved into our new home yesterday and we were lucky enough to be able to watch the race. I don’t think that not televising on TNT or Fox was fair, as most people don’t get the channel.

Well the one thing I’m happy about was that Kenny Wallace was the fan favorite and voted into the race. I watched at the race because I fell asleep in it. I love night racing, I just can’t stay awake to see the finish. One more thing, I would like to say I’m sorry that Carl Edwards didn’t make the race. He ran a great race, to bad his car faved with just a few laps left.

(21) Anita says:

It was a good race. I wish that Jimmie could have taken Kevin in the end. I dont like Harvick and love Jimmie. But it turned out to be a good race. I think the reason it was on Speed and not a network is because it isnt part of the points racing. So not really part of the real season. I cant think of any other way to put it. I hope that I am not misunderstood. Sorry for those who didnt get to see it but You cant have everything all the time. Glad that Kenny Wallace was the one voted in. I like his personallity. I think he is really funny. Of course I like all of the Wallaces. A great racing family. BYe for now.

Well let’s see. Here on the site we have a Mor-n called another person a retarded because one of them don’t like Jimmie, and the other does. We also have another person tells people because they didn’t order the speed channel they are not true race fans. Then again this clown don’t have sense enough to stop and think some may not have the money to order speed channel or even have cable. We also have a person that complain what she think another is writing is like a 9 year old writings and you can’t read their comment.

(26) MattFan says:

Bruce Tyler,
Don’t worry about the cheating super fast pit stops (huh?), I’m sure that soon NASCAR will tell us about the new rule that cars who’s numbers are not an even numbered multiple of 12, up to a maximum of 50, will be held in the pits for an additional 3 seconds after the pit stop is completed. This is to insure a more level and competitive field

(27) TLOOW'sTBFE'BY says:

Once upon a time in a far far galaxy, there once were a land full of grown ups, Grown ups that every grown up respected each one of other. Only time when you may hear any disrespect or childish comments were children. Then those children was taught by their grown up parents it’s best to respect each other by not calling names to one another because that shows everyone how you was brought up. They were taught if you respect one another ideas, comments, not to accuse one another of things even if you do not agree with them that show you are growing up. Other wise you just go through life as a big childish immature person that makes their parents to look foolish because they didn’t do their job in raising their kids. What happen to the old days in far far away? Now everyone calls each other names, accuse others, and no respect. Now people call this progress, 2007 etc. Feel sorry for those people thinks it’s ok to lower their standards in life, then pass them along with their young.

(29) David says:

It’s great to finally see someone win other than a Hendrick driver. Maybe Nascar decided to quit rigging the races to allow the Hendrick cars to win. Well, we will see when everyone is racing for points again. I also can’t believe that Nascar tolerates the irresponsible driving of Montoya.

May 20, 2007 at 7:23 pm
(30) Keith says:

I would like to hear just how NASCAR is “rigging” races to favor Hendrick Motorsports. It appears that, as a team, they have done the testing and have employed the people necessary to figure out the set-up that makes the COT work. Well, David, what about it? Do you know what you are talking about, or are you just throwing a tantrum?

May 20, 2007 at 7:55 pm
(31) what? says:

It is too bad that people not mature enough to comes on here, and that they have to think everybody is cheating, rigging etc. What is sad about it when people constantly think this way- they are the ones that cheat- rigged themselves. Guess that old kids saying is true, it takes one to know one. It gets very tiring to read this same stuff on here how everybody is cheating. So we can only guess when these very same people or their kids do well in sports they must be cheating also. They cannot accept some teams have their stuff together than other teams. Oh I see how these people think every year Nascar draws or picks a team, and say we are going to let them win every race, next year it will be another team.

(33) David says:

Keith and what? are abviously Jeff and Jimmie fans.

May 20, 2007 at 8:57 pm
(34) David says:

Keith,
Caution flags come out at very appropriate times to allow the Hendrick cars to catch up. On the other hand, cautions do not fly when they are needed when a Hendrick car is in an advantageous position. Just look at last week’s race at Darlington with Gordon leading. A crash occurred and no yellow when debris was all over the track. Denny Hamlin was reeling Gordon in at a very rapid rate. But Nascar had to protect their poster boy and get him another win.

May 20, 2007 at 9:21 pm
(35) David says:

Wow, I think the Jeff and Jimmie fan is about to get ticked off. I Didn’t think it would be that easy! Poor guy, I suppose he is just a little high strung!

(36) vosa says:

I hate to break it to all of yous complaining that NASCAR forces you to buy bigger and better cable/sate channel packages. I watched it on my anolog cable it was on TSN.. The race was pretty good, though I am not a big fan of short races..

May 20, 2007 at 11:00 pm
(37) what? says:

David why do you think i’m a jeff/jj fan? Just because you make an idiotic comment and someone say something about it, that makes them a jeff/jj fan? Then again I don’t know why ask you another question I notice you nevered answered the last question. High strung? nope not at all, I do notice you love to assume. Come on stop assuming and start answer the questions, Come on assume some more make yourself look foolsih again. We see that you do that well.

May 20, 2007 at 11:28 pm
(38) David says:

David, on second thought I maybe high strung, a person can get that way easily when trying to talk an intelligent conversation with an Illiterate person that have to assume everything. As I have said before I notice you have not answered my question, you know ASSUMER DAVID If your driver was winning as those two are would you make the same comments about them?

May 20, 2007 at 11:59 pm
(44) what? says:

Allen way to go for what? If you been reading these comments he has not said anything what others have said. People don’t like the hendricks so they are cheating and nascar lets them cheat. Couple of years ago it was the rousch teams was winning all the time, before that it was rcr and before that another team, and maybe next year it could be another team. Then we can hear the same crap complain about they are cheating. All it boils down too what team as their stuff together. Right now it’s the hendricks.

May 21, 2007 at 12:16 am
(45) what? says:

Mattfan go right ahead have your fun it really does not matter to me. I also think its fun to read your ASSuming of others when you have no idea what you are talking about. Were you ever been taught from someone like your mommy for an example, you should never assume? It always makes you to look foolish, and then on top of that you are following another assumer. It is a pity when one has to follow others instead of using their own brain thinking power! Come on assume some more I need another laugh. I always laugh at people when they cannot think for themselves. Then after a while it gets old, then pity sits in for them.

(46) Eric says:

I’m sorry I try to be nice but first of all, We are in the 21st century here you people have the internet obviously,Nascar.com,The commercials during the regular races, and Radio all were telling us that this race was going to be on SPEED. I can’t feel sorry for you. Besides there are 2 to 4 hours of broadcasts every week from the track you people are missing not buying Speed. So I understand that cable or satelite is expensive,But drop the Internet to make up the diffrence all you do on here is whine anyway.

May 21, 2007 at 4:44 am
(47) Scott says:

All you people that whine about not having speed better get up to speed because the reason nascar bought speed is so that all of the racing events will be broadcast from that channel EVERYTHING 24 hour coverage from the arrival of the teams on thursday to the wrap up midnight on Sunday so you better get ready its coming sooner than you think……….GO 24

(48) 1969RS says:

I am surprised there are not more comments about Montoya.
Yes, he is an aggressive driver, in my estimation, a bit too aggressive. I heard a driver mention that if Montoya is behind you on a start or restart, it is guaranteed he will dive to the low side, no matter how many cars are above him. Not sure if NASCAR officials will step in and throttle him back a little, but you can guarantee that the NASCAR drivers will. He has the potential to be a great driver in Cup Series, but I fear if he does not control the aggression, he will kill someone.

May 21, 2007 at 11:13 am
(49) Rae says:

What really sucked was that Kenseth had it, and lost it by speeding off of pit road! He was so close!!! I am happy that he led for 40 laps though! He had a great setup that’s for sure!

(50) TLabonte Fan says:

I dont see how you could be a NASCAR fan and not have the speed channel. All practice events and qualifying are live on speed channel. I could not imagine not having it. If you dont have it, get it.

Congrats to Harvick. Great race.

May 21, 2007 at 12:58 pm
(51) chuck77x says:

To all the people that some team is cheating,& it makes no differance which team it is, can not say how they are cheating they only YELL loud that they are cheating, give an example of how instead of saying it is NASCAR giving them a break or if they can make good pit stops they must be cheating. But I will say that it bothers me that it takes 5 or more laps to clean up a piece of paper or something as inapplicable on the track, gives all the teams a chance to catch up, but no one complains about that. while I am on a tear, Kyle & Montoya are both racers they are going to go for it, Montoya did make an error injudgement but to be crucifed like he was by some of you, & called the names like that is of very low character, plus I will bet none of you have ever raced anything but your mouth.

(55) 1969RS says:

Chuck77X – Problem is, Montoya goes for it without consideration for anyones life. He does this in a 20 lap race as well as a 500 mile race.
What goes around, comes around. There will be a time when he needs someone to give him a break, and he will not get it. He is not earning respct from anyone on the track.
And FYI, I am a retired racer that has run short tracks in the midwest on dirt as well as pavement, from 1/4 to 1 mile tracks. I have seen drivers drive in to a corner way over their head and do just what Montoya did Saturday night.
There is “going for it”, and there is driving with your head up your a##.
Don’t listen to us if you feel we “have not raced anything but our mouths”. Just pay attention to comments by Cup regulars this week and you will be eating your words.

I get so sick and tired of this stuff from some of these people that come on here and say “IF you are a real Nascar fan” or “You must not be a real fan” and now this clo-n “I dont see how you can be a nascar fan if you dont have speed channel”. Tlbfan, have problems seeing past your nose why some people may have reasons why they do not have speed? True to some it gives them more to complain about. To some it may be priorities in life and the speed channel nor nascar is not on top of them, although they may be a nascar fan.

I was at LMS for the All Star Challenge.
It wasn’t as “balls-to-the-walls” as I’d hoped. The Nextell Open was cool, but the cautions did get old. I’m another one glad to see a non-Hendrick winner. Good for Harvick. Would prefer it was Kasey Kahne … maybe next year. FWIW, I was at Darlington, too, and yep, NASCAR either didn’t throw a caution when they logically would, or they did throw one when you’d least expect it. Leaves ya wonderin’.
