Jeff Gordon Wins Rain Delayed Dodge Avenger 500
Every event this season seems to be a battle between Hendrick Motorsports teammates. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have won seven of the eleven races so far this year. Can anyone stop the domination? I would like to see more variety in Victory Lane but you have to give them credit. The Hendrick Motorsports organization has it mastered in 2007.

Wow..It was a great Race,Jeff winning with the engine over heating,Tony making it back up to 6th place,Denny back to second…there was just so many stories…The Gibbs cars were faster again but the luck just isn’t with them.
I think this new car is really going to work..There are just a few teams that need to catch up..and they will.
It was a fantastic race. I understand people saying they would like to see more variety in Victory Lane but I am an all time Gordon fan so this has been great!! A ton of credit has to go to his pit crew every week though. They are so very important. As what happens today, they can really help you win a race but they can definately play a role in losing a race too.
Woohoo, go Jeff go! I honestly didn’t think his car would hold out for the win. I’m a long time Gordon fan as well, it’s nice to see him on top again!
Is the race over yet? I kept falling asleep, just as boring than most of the races so far this year. SNOOOOOOOZZZZZZZ
I remember ONLY positive messages. That is my goal!
Remember Jrs commercials? The ones that said he was changing his number from 8 to 6.7 I wonder if he really is? Wouldnt that be a hoot? Unlikely, but extremely funny (at least I think)!
OH did they race today? I got to see VICTORY LANE, but was unsure from what race. Was it this week?, last week?, the week before?, before that?, Or was it indeed fast forward to show the remaining races? Anyway the sooner Jeff breaks all the records the better off all race fans will be so GO GORDON and ONLY GORDON 9 fan PHOOEY Congrats 24. Jeff really is one of the greats. It would be nice to see a different team at least once every decade, but Jeff is great.
Wasn’t that a great win and a great race today. I could not sit down the whole race. What a engine Jeff has, it kept going when it was hot. It sure made me happy. What a good Mother’s Day gift.
I also only read positive comments too.
Great Mother’s Day! Never saw a race end the way this did. Couldn’t hardly believe the car would hold out that long. Of course Jeff is the best driver out there. Keep it up! There’s a bunch of great drivers so that is what makes us all come back week after week watching. Of course it makes it even better when the 24 is first at the finish line.
So glad that Jeff is back on the winning side of the race track. He is one of the best drives out there & I wish him many more constant winnings. I have been a HUGE fan for years. I’ve never been to a race, but I watch them on the television which I am sure isn’t as exciting as being there on race day.
jeff’s” team” won !
great work people
We also believe in the tooth fairy by only reading postive comments we have our heads stuck in the ground. We don’t want to believe the almighty NASCAR is perfect. We don’t like reality.
I am not a Robby Gordon fan, but man, ya gotta feel bad for the guy. He cannot catch a break for the life of him.
Sure was a shame that people in San Francisco or those w/Comcast didn’t get to see the race. It was a huge bummer for my Mother’s Day.
Clinton. You are so right about Robby Gordon. Probably few drivers love racing as much as he does, but he just can’t seem to ever get to the point where he can win. Guess his Baja runs give him all the rush he needs to stay in the business, because you sure can’t take that away from him. He seems like a really nice guy.
Juli I live in Vacaville and we got to see the race and I have Comcast. Sorry you missed it.
Sorry Juli I live in Modesto and Comcast carries it here. I have Direct TV and love it. Do you have room for a dish where you live?
first of all have to say i am glad i thought more of mom and dvr’d the race. i have been a race fan for over 30 years–seen alot of great things in nascar. right now though, i am really dissappointed nascar is allowing this dominance by basically one race team with one in a close second (hendricks, gibbs) whether or not they are pushing the rules and getting by or just “figured” out new ways to win is not important. hey, these guys know how to win. but i am suprised nascar has not done something to even the field a little. i find it pretty annoying that i can predict the top ten every single week. if the cars are supposed to be so equal for good competition, how does just one or two teams dominate? i remember when rousch had three fords in the top ten and nascar immediately decided to change the chevy and dodge to make the race more competitive. why has nascar not done that now–the reason the sport is losing popularity is because right now all you see (remember i am a jr fan!!) is chevys winning. my friends who also have been fans of nascar for 30+ years who are dodge and ford fans wonder why nascar is letting this go on. why watch if you know that one brand will dominate? it used to be enjoyable to watch races, now it is truly boring–and to those who say i feel this way because jr is not winning-your wrong. i have been a fan of this sport longer than most of the drivers that are driving now. love the sport, but they need to do something and now! bring back the thrill of not knowing who will win insted of being able to predict it every single week. i challange nascar to do something now, not later. p.s. good luck with the future jr!!!!you made the right choice.
Hey what a race. Way to go Jeff. It it wasnt Jimmie Jeff is my second choice. It was a good race.
It’s a good race if your team wins, it’s a bad race if your team looses then someone is cheating. This person #18 thinks nascar should even the teams out because of the boring race its becoming, Some teams have their stuff together better than the others. If this person really was a fan for 30 years he should remember the dominance of the pettys, short team memory loss, it happens. Nascar has to many rules already. safety rules are good, no question. The rest they need to drop many of them including the cot. Then again nascar would loose some of their $$$ from the teams they get for the cotc.
hey #20 i remeber quite well the dominance of the king seeing as i was a petty fan back then. he was one of the reasons that nascar implemented the rules gain parity and make the playing field more even. thanks for bringing him up–sorry no memory loss here.ha ha
Hey #21, 18 I do not refer petty as the King, yes he won more races, he is a good driver, but if he was driving with the rules they have today he couldn’t do it. Mainly everything the same now, back in his day it was different. The majority of the teams now don’t have their stuff together, thats why they loose, in his day he had the most money and he won because of it, the other teams, most had their stuff together but not as much money. Shoot Petty even said that himself, so about his winnings are his words not mine.
If you people would really watch the race you would see Gibbs especially is as good as Hendrick. I am a huge Gordon fan but Hamilin team has given away a couple races Jeff won. If Jimmie doesn’t pit or Hamlin’s team does not drop the ball Jeff does not win. Hendrick prides themselves on being the most prepared and capitalizing on bad day when the opportunity is there. Jeff was struggling but capitalized at the right moment. The cars are the same, get a beter team. And Petty nor Earnhardtt has 7 championships in today’s era.
You said it right Nick!! I have said the same thing over and over. Some people just don’t get it. Nascar does not need to make any changes. Teams just need to have the whole package. If mistakes are made, or you drop the ball, someone else is going to be in there to grab it. Hendricks have not had the best cars in many of the races but they don’t drop the ball and run with every opportunity they get. I am a huge Gordan fan but I say GO YOU to any team that can pull the whole package together and win races. That is really what racing is all about. Even if that team does win week after week. That just shows how truely awesome teamwork can be!!
Of course a Hendrick driver will win when Nascar is manipulating the races to allow them to do so.
Go Matt!!!!!!
