Mother Nature Forces Mother's Day Race

Saturday May 12, 2007
For the second week in a row NASCAR has to give in to the rain and reschedule the race for Sunday afternoon at 1pm. FOX will have the race live Sunday May 13th at 1pm Eastern / 10am Pacific.

NASCAR traditionally avoids racing on Mother's Day. However, Mother Nature has forced NASCAR to violate the sanctity of Mother's Day. It is unfortunate but NASCAR has to get the show in for the thousands of fans who are already in town to see the race.

I think the tradition of NOT racing on Mother’s Day is indicative of the family-value based tradition of NASCAR. While it is unfortunate that they couldn’t complete the race and uphold tradition, I’ll be glued to the tube when the green flag drops. Any NASCAR Mom will be watching along too.

Just an hilarious thought here. Remember the old commercials when JR was saying how they like to shake things up at times (and unknowingly to him was causing quite a stir) by changing his number from 8 to 6.7 ? I realize that is very very unlikely—but wouldnt it be hilarious (just kinda funny at least) Maybe its just me, but Im laughing just thinking about it. Jr driving the new # 6.7 Bud Chevy for JRM. Thanks I hope that isnt too corny for you all. GO KASEY

I am a HUGE Nascar fan but I have to say I disagree with having a race on Mother’s Day. In past years Nascar hasn’t even scheduled a race for Mother’s Day weekend. Not that any day would be a good day for someone to get hurt on the track, but I think it would be that much worse if it happened on Mother’s Day. Nonetheless, if a race will be run, I will be watching, even on Mother’s Day.

i think the way these c.o.t. races are going hendrick racing is cheating. it is getting to be a joke. i think we should insp. their cars.it is getting to the point that tony stewart is right that nascar is like pro wrestling.

Who won I fell asleep again.

(13) Angel says:

Hendricks is not cheating!!! They just have the best teams put together right now. There have been many cars that have been faster but there pit crews have had bad stops or bad stategies. I know people like to see variety in Victory Lane but the best driver, pit crew and car all work together to win a race and Hendricks just know how to get it done. That is exactly what happened in the race on Mothers Day. Others could have won the race. They were faster but couldn’t put it all together. How can you even say Hendricks is cheating? Are you watching the same races as the rest of us?

(14) Gerry says:

Everyone sees the world/races a diffarent way. Some say some teams cheat because they think the sky is falling, while others lack something between their ears, while others can’t grasp some teams are better than others in some years

(15) chuck77x says:

# 14 GERRY you have it right, if the person/ team someone likes do not win the other team is cheating.

My daughter and I went to Darlington as Mother’s Day gifts to ourselves. Seeing a race is 100 times more fun than being treated to dinner out. We got two trips to the track for the price of one! LOL

(17) Anita says:

Oh yeah. Hendricks is cheating and Nascar officails are just not inspecting there cars when they inspect everybody elses. Nascar also has God in there pocket thats why it rained and they had to delay the race. Dont you know that how terrribe Nascar is. They fix races, pay off God, and let Rick Hendricks to what ever he wants too. Get Real People. (In case you cant tell this comment is total sarcasm.)
