Jeff Gordon Scores Talladega Victory

Sunday April 29, 2007
The 2007 Aarons 499 was a pretty good show today. The race featured lots of lead changes and an exciting green-white-checkers finish. Jimmie Johnson had an exciting day as he was involved in two separate crashes. However, it was his teammate Jeff Gordon who had them covered most of the day. The best car got the win as Jeff Gordon held on for the final restart to take the victory.

Unfortunately, idiots at the track disgraced themselves once again by throwing garbage on the track. The hooligans who attend races at Talladega are becoming famous for this. It is a shame that a few jerks can give the thousands of actual race fans in attendance a bad name. I was glad to hear that the police were arresting these idiots.

(1) Bubba says:

Well fans Rutterman blew up with Jeff Gordon in second place and Nascar allow the race to go on until he passed the first place car before throwing the caution, if that’s not race fixing what is it?? You can call me a whinner or whatever you want but this is my last post because I have watched my last Nascar event, it is no longer racing. Good luck to all of your drivers. Bubba

Come on bubba, you will be back on here. Any bets on how many days, hours?

April 29, 2007 at 8:25 pm
(3) Chris says:

I did not see the race like Bubba. People are seeing things that just are not there.
I hope the police got all the people that threw things on the track. Celebration for E. Sr.Bday is great but not by indangering others.

(4) john says:

Re: Bubba. Another example of object throwing rednecks. My father ran some of the dirt track bullrings in eastern nort carolina and there was always some sort of bitchin, whinning of some sort…plus the occasional fight. however i have never seen such a bunch of idiot, non-fans as exists today. i just wonder what can make some folks have so much hate as to actually throw objects at a drver…whoever he may be.

April 29, 2007 at 8:29 pm
(5) MURPHY says:

To all nascar fans, I hope you all realize that nascar just gave all fans the giant finger of fate, that old middle digit, or whatever you call it. I bet a friend of mine that there would be a caution near the end of the race and I won. It was nascars way of saying up yours to all the loyal fans. If anyone needed proof that Stewart was right, they gave it to you today, and I am not a Stewart fan. I think I’ll join Bubba and do something else on Sunday.PEACE TO ALL!!!

April 29, 2007 at 8:32 pm
(6) MURPHY says:

I forgot one other thing. Your right Steve, it’s to bad some had to throw things at the end, but the bigger disgrace was the way nascar handled the end of the race. PEACE TO ALL !!

April 29, 2007 at 8:41 pm
(7) M says:

Timing great for Gordon…shouldn’t be any surprise there!

April 29, 2007 at 8:53 pm
(8) joe stinker says:

Murph, Bubba It doesn’t matter you going to have the ones comes on here and say Nascar is god what ever Nascar say or do is GREAT. You know the ones that comes here and say don’t like it don’t watch. These people would not see anything wrong if Nascar would stop all of the cars on the the final turn, and let there favorite driver keep on going and cross the line for a win. These people would defend Nascar someway.

April 29, 2007 at 9:00 pm
(9) Vito says:

WHAT RACE! did you see a race I know I didnt , all I saw was the D*** commercials every 4 minutes…. “Ridicules” and no surprise to a caution w/less than 5 laps to go It’ll happen everytime!

April 29, 2007 at 9:18 pm
(10) GordanFan says:

I can’t believe the things I read. How in the hell can you fix it so that NASCAR can call a caution. Other than Jeff winning the best part of the race when they said some of the idiots were being arrested for throwing stuff on the track. Oh yes, didn’t Tony retract everything he said on SIRIUS radio? I have no gripe againest him, just all the garbage that goes on when their favorite doesn’t win. I have watched Jeff lose many times, but never would have thought of doing some of the stuff these people do. IF THEY DON’T WATCH NASCAR ANYMORE, who will miss them? No one, I’m sure.

April 29, 2007 at 9:23 pm
(11) JIM FROM ALABAMA says:

Never seem to end, the absolute hate for anyone who wins except Junebug, I am so glad that the police arrested some of the scum that attend the race. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Junior is a super driver and has class but not all his fans.

April 29, 2007 at 9:34 pm
(12) Dave V. says:

I agree with Bubba. Nasscar took there sweet time to throw the caution so Gordon could get the lead and that is why the people started throwing stuff again when Gordon got the checkered caution flag at the end so nobody could pass because the flags went up just as soon as something happened. Bad call Nascar, AGAIN!

April 29, 2007 at 10:05 pm
(13) dawn says:

Jeff Gordon won because he is a good clean driver not because of nascar. True nascar fans would not be so disrespectful as to throw thing and act like children.

April 29, 2007 at 11:02 pm
(14) Big Gordon Fan says:

Interesting how some think the race is fixed! Even Tony said it was not. Jeff Gordon deserved the win cause he was there when it mattered as he was most of the day. Why would some of you think different? He led the most laps and many knew he would win with the best car today. If you don’t like Nascar why watch it then?? I love the sport and all the good drivers too. Being sportsmen is a good thing.

April 29, 2007 at 11:16 pm
(15) sbmatt says:

Big deal Gordon won,we’get’him next’time. What bother me is the so call “fans” that were throwing crap for the second race. This is a bigger black eye for the sport, fake or bogus caution. There we’re reports of people being arrested, which I would say “that’s great” but believe those reports were phantom arrest.

April 29, 2007 at 11:21 pm
(16) steve says:

fan from ontario here..seems to me like nascar calls the caution near the end an awful lot…I think it may be to tighten up the field for a more dramatic finish so one driver doesnt finish a second or more ahead. i dont think they favor any driver and i do think they should stop calling the debris cautions

April 29, 2007 at 11:27 pm
(17) Gordon Fan says:

I think it was great to see Jeff get another victory. I knew that some so called fans would throw stuff out on the track if he won. The people that threw the stuff out on the track are Jr. fans and they didnt want to see Jeff surpass Dale Srs. record. It was bound to happen sooner or later Jeff is still young and has alot of racing left in him. I say get over it.

April 29, 2007 at 11:35 pm
(18) Leo Z says:

I spent the day watching commercials and then some jack a** tried to put on a nascar race !!! go figure ..

April 30, 2007 at 12:14 am
(19) 9 fan says:

Im sorry to say I was on the road all day and only got to hear bits and pieces on the radio. It did seem like Gordon was in front most of the day. Unfortanetly I missed several laps. Can anyone tell me what happened to Denny Hamlin. Last I heard he was leading. When I got back to the radio it was just at the final restart and Gordon was leading into the GREEN/WHITE/CHECKER then of course the wreck allowed Gordon to win on yellow. Also How did Gordon take the lead? Please inform me someone. I hate when I cant see or hear the race in full. THANKS Go Kasey

April 30, 2007 at 12:27 am
(20) 24 Fan-yeah!!!! says:

Jeff Gordon is just a great driver! Can’t any of you recognize and acknowledge this fact? Stop complaining and be Happy for the winner, whoever it maybe. Good sportsmanship will always make you feel better.

(21) kathy smith says:

Good going Jeff I a’m one of your big fans I hope you can keep on winning like you are now. But I like Jimmie to so I hope you both the best luck.

April 30, 2007 at 2:01 am
(22) Anita says:

Hey way to go Jeff. I thought that todays race was pretty exciting. I love Jimmie its to bad that he ran into casey. I believe that he didnt mean to. I wish that people at the races had a little more class. People see you all on tv throwing stuff at the winner. Dumb Dumb Dumb. It gives all nascar fans a bad name. Way to Jeff. Jimmie will get it next time. Bye for now

April 30, 2007 at 2:07 am
(23) Anita says:

I think that we will see bubba again. I dont know waht he thought the problem was today but I know he will be back. He cant help himself. Kinda like me. I was mad that one of my comments were taken off. but here I am typing away. this is addicting. See ya soon Bubba.

April 30, 2007 at 3:06 am
(24) 24Tweety says:

Diehard Gordon fan here-To all who think NASCAR gave the last 2 races to Jeff, think about it, Hendricks has been dialed in all year. So they are having a good 2nd year, bet you never complained when Roush was having his drivers exchange bonus points. And I have yet to understand why Jr’s drinking-buddy/fair-weather-fans have so much hate for Jeff. He was at times more of a son to Sr. than Jr. Who do you think not only gave him the nickname ‘Kid’, but taught him how to drive SMART. Sure he gets mad, everyone does, but I don’t think you’ll see him throwing something at another driver, even a finger. Gordon has had bad years and good, but what makes me mad is the way he DOESN’T get drunk, get arrested, take his drunken groupies on a ride around the track, rolls his car & hide from the cops, etc. but HE gets booed. Yes, Jeff, Jr. Jimmie, and Tony are top drivers right now, but it’s just like the weather wait around it’ll change. If your so uptight that you just really have to holler fowl every time your driver gets dumped or you don’t like NASCAR’s call, then stay home and throw beer can at your TV or if your lucky enough to be at the track, get up and leave the track and throw something at your own car. Don’t ruin other people’s day by making an A** of yourself in front of them & their kids. People over the age of 18 should be setting examples of how to enjoy a sporting event. Anyhow true-true NASCAR fans know “All’s fair in Love & Racing”, we cheer when they(our favorites) win and are sad when they lose, but there’s always the next race. By the way, I cheered for Dale,Sr. & D W while they were racing then along came this ‘Kid’ that looked like a very young version of the Intimidator, been flying the 24 ever since. Course it help that my son Jeff is the same age and was born Xmas Eve. Ha-Ha Come on you guys let’s have fun and bitch about taxes, the commercials or somehting else but don’t cut down the good guys, the ones out there going 180+ so we can have something to watch on Sunday with the grandkids.

April 30, 2007 at 3:13 am
(25) GORDON ALL THE WAY says:

Yes gordon won at the late Dale E favorite track but he is gone and he taught gordon a lot of stuff that he knows. is that why E fans hate gordon because he just as good as the big E, not the little e?

April 30, 2007 at 3:24 am
(26) T Jones says:

The best thing that could happen is for Bubba,Murphy,M & the rest of those idiots to give up on racing..Sore losers..What Nascar should do is close Taladaga & give those races to tracks who have decent fans..I feel sorry for Jr, He doesn’t need those kind of fans.

April 30, 2007 at 7:00 am
(27) 24Tweety says:

By the way 9fan, Denny Hamlin was low on fuel and came in on the next to last caution. Sorry I forgot your question while I was on my soapbox.

April 30, 2007 at 7:06 am
(28) Kathy Albright says:

When is NASCAR going to learn to “red flag” the Talledega race rather than finish under caution. I was just as mad as the fans in the stands AGAIN! Maybe Tony Stewart is on to something. Does Hendrick have the Frances in his pocket?

April 30, 2007 at 8:36 am
(29) patti says:

well lets see i watched the race, and i am a big fan of jeff gordon and glad that he won it.but we all need to stop and think that all the drivers are good but we need just one winner…and it was the number 24 today..

April 30, 2007 at 9:07 am
(30) 1969RS says:

It is a total imbarrassment to see so called “fans” throwing crap on the track. If any of you that participated in that idiodic display are reading this today, let me start by saying you are a total jackass!
I think the tracks need to do something about this, now, before soeone gets seriously hurt. It may not be a driver, but what if it is a small child in the lower seats that gets hit by a full can of beer. Think of the possible results before you put your pea brain in gear.
It may get to the point where no tracks allow coolers and all beverages are served in plastic cups.
I think self policing would help as well. Why not print on the back of your ticket, and also have signs on the lower part of the fence twards the fans, an “800″ number to call and report someone who is throwing this crap on the track. You could give a discription and seat location. Fan should be arrested for assult, loose their ticket privlages for life at not just that track, but ANY Nascar track, and be forced to serve one year community service of picking up crap along side the roadways of thier local community.
Better yet, tie them to a tree and let the winner of the race throw beer cans at them.

April 30, 2007 at 9:21 am
(31) jason says:

NASCAR will end up putting police in every aisle, or preventing alcohol from being inside the stands, especially with Anheiser Busch talking about leaving. They will keep seeing things like this until they do something drastic… it’s not just Talladega fans either, remember Phoenix? I went to races at Talladega for more than 10 years, & never had to resort to throwing it on the race track… I’l say it again, what a waste of beer. Gordon did a good job, the old man taught him well about using the draft, I till root for Jr. all the way.

April 30, 2007 at 9:30 am
(32) Richard says:

Here we go again, Jeff this, Jeff that, Jeff lovers, Jeff haters Jeff won, nascar gave him the win, Can’t stand nascar, nascar suck up’s, I’m a true race fan, If they were true race fans, The race was exciting, Was there a race today, I never watch nascar again, he cheats, they all cheats. 24Tweety? no words could some up that mess. That just about sums it up on these comments.

On the Tony thing I believe he was correct on his comments he made on his radio show, he has every right to speak his opinion. The turn around this weekend? If you would have listen he was called in to speak with nascar at 6 AM Friday, and nascar chewed him out, and if he didn’t show no race. He even said he couldn’t sit down for the chewing he had gotten, Now what would you do? Why do you think he back down? Also, if you have noticed he is the only one that talks bad or against nascar he is forced to get in front of the cameras to say I’m sorry. You hear other drivers say things against nascar such as kyle busch, countness others and nothing from nascar.

April 30, 2007 at 10:38 am
(33) moto says:

Jimmy Johnson invovled in two wrecks but manages to stay in the hunt
Announcers making excuses for the “debris” cautions
Wonder how the COT would fare in this race, can’t wait until fall to see how it does
NASCAR made sure Gordon got that lead before they threw the flag with 4 laps to go (key to the win is right here)
They were throwing the beer cans at Jeff again, I guess they feel NASCAR was setting up for a Jeff win.
DW making excuses as usual, can’t change the fans minds.

April 30, 2007 at 10:50 am
(34) Robert says:

Started from the pole, led the most laps, stayed out of trouble, went from 18th the 1st in 8 laps . Yep you guys are right that caution at the end made it all happen for him!!! The fact that he had the best car and had the field covered the whole race was irrelevent.

Now has more wins than Big E, tied him for restrictor plate wins and did it all in DEGA on Sr’s Birthday.!!! Could not have written a better day to be a Gordon fan.

April 30, 2007 at 11:03 am
(35) 1969rs says:

Nascar asked Tony if he would be as popular and successful without NASCAR. Then they asked him if he thought NASCAR would be as popular and successful without Tony Stewart. They then told him to shut up and drive.
I think Tony is an extremely talented driver. But, he needs to find a way to express his feelings without throwing people under the bus. The comments he made about David G. regarding “falling into that ride” was a little cruel and he will not gain respect from other drivers that way. He continues to dig a hole for himself.

April 30, 2007 at 11:53 am
(36) Richard says:

What nascar wants from their drivers and fans for that matter is all the drivers and fans shut their mouths and accept everything nascar wants to do with out question. Falling in to the driver seat? Face it a lot of drivers fall in the driver’s seat. Nascar wants YOUNG good looking drivers for their image. So you get these drivers that barely 20 years of age fairly good looking wet behind the ears driving. Where as there are more seasoned drivers just as good if not better driving in the Busch races, with not as good of equipment. The idea at one time was the drivers start with asa, or the rest of the Double A classes, Improve and mature move to the Busch, then to the big time. Now, these drivers skipped the small league and go right to the big time without getting the experience. These drivers, most of them are good but WET. If I wouldn’t know better these young drivers got their way there because of the family. Kane come from a wealthy family he had the best of equipment in spints, bucsh brothers family was not exactly poor when their dad went out and bought the racetrack so he could change the rules they could drive at an early age. Danny Hemming parents wasn’t on food stamps when you hear them talk about how they let him drive on interviews It may be cruel but sometimes the truth hurts.

(37) Grandpa Rocket says:

Throw it on the track… spend the night in JAIL.

April 30, 2007 at 12:19 pm
(38) 1969RS says:

Richard, agree 100%. But it is not just the new, young drivers that are coming from a money background to make thier way thru the sport. Mark Martin for example. He also came from a money background that helped to propell himself thru the ranks. BUT, Mark also paid his dues thru the ASA ranks. Then you have drivers like Dick Trickle that could drive the wheels off anything, who really did sacrifice and did not come from a money background, but did not fit the “image” that most teams want for thier driver. Dick was actually more successful in ASA and lower ranks than Mark.
Once in a while, a young gun will come along that can actually handle the Nascar demands and challenges. But those are few and far between. Let’s face it, in today’s corperate enviroment, you want a pretty boy / girl that will represent the company well. When you are a corperation that throws millions to a race team, you better be getting something that will make your company look good. It does not boil down to driving ability any more.
Add into the mix Nascar’s focus on diversity. No longer will it be just driving ability and pretty face. Need to focus on the minorities as well.
All that is fine, but if they are not the best DRIVER for the position, all the rest should not matter.

April 30, 2007 at 12:32 pm
(39) Duke says:

This will most likely not post but here it goes.

I’m a Rusty Wallace fan and since he has left the sport I have been unable to find a driver with my racing values.

Throwing stuff on the is dangerous, but since NASCAR has chosen to ignore the FANS or call them Rednecks like Steve. NASCAR fails to see to what might make racing better? I don’t think the FANS though stuff on the track because they Don’t like Jeffy, then did it because they did not like how the race ended after 499 mile.

As far as Tony Stewart goes it really ticks me off to see him eat is words about debris cautions. He was just saying what the FANS feel. NASCAR needs to wake up and pay attention to its veteran fan base.

April 30, 2007 at 12:49 pm
(40) Scot says:

No such thing as an exciting green and white checkered finish Steve. I would imagine the way you portray Talladega fans you are not that into nascar. What, no room in the about: for football so you had to pretend you know something about nascar to put that overpriced college degree to work. Study a little harder next time Steve.

April 30, 2007 at 12:55 pm
(41) Katy says:

I’m a huge Tony Stewart fan and felt that he got shafted with the fine. I agree that there is a time and place for comments like that, but that’s just Tony Stewart for you. I think had a “golden boy” of NASCAR made those comments the officials would have looked the other way. There are so many rules to follow in NASCAR and the officials need to be CONSISTENT. Just because one driver is more popular (i.e. bringing more $$ to the sport) than the other doesn’t mean that they should get preferential treatment.

It’s a shame that the fans threw debris on the track, but feel that it was the only way that the fans can “voice” their opinion – since there is no comment portion on the NASCAR site. And if nobody caught it – there was debris on the track with 2 laps left, but did they throw the yellow flag…NO! That’s NASCAR for you.

April 30, 2007 at 1:05 pm
(42) Richard says:

Yes tony ate his words, Do you really think he had a choice? Remember the interviews couple of weeks ago, when Speedtv ask the drivers about phantom cautions? I don’t like the person but K busch really the only one that had the guts for telling he didn’t like them. Kyle petty and the rest of them say more the better. Guess for petty stand point it would be better so he won’t go down anymore laps he already does.
Green white checkard finishes. I guess they are better ending with a yellow all the time.

April 30, 2007 at 1:20 pm
(43) Richard says:

Nascar official told Tony not to open his mouth about nascar of what the fans already to begin to realize about nascar. Well I should not say all fans, you always have the the fans and drivers that suck up to nascar, that’s the only fans and drivers nascar likes. Nascar has their head stuck in the hole and their wallets, can’t see past their $$ signs in front of their eyes. If we ignore it then the fans will forget and it will go away. Something for sure will go away, and not the problem.

April 30, 2007 at 1:24 pm
(44) jeffg24 says:

WAAH,BUBBA your just mad because the best driver in nascar today won back to back races

April 30, 2007 at 2:14 pm
(45) MURPHY says:

Didn’t mind a bit when Gordon won the race, although he’s not my favorite. All my favorites have retired except for Dale Jarrett and he should.
NOTE TO TJONES-If you like the stuff your seeing now great for you but don’t call me names for not liking it. I don’t think its fixed for any one driver but I do think they try to make the end of the race exciting by throwing the yellow to quickly, which is very easy to do as there is always something blowing across the track.
PEACE TO ALL!!!

April 30, 2007 at 2:25 pm
(46) T Jones says:

Richard sure has a lot to say..do you think we will ever find out the penalty handed out to those hurlers at tal? 10 arrested, that accounts for 90 – 100 cans of beer..At hockey games, you can not bring your own beverages, you buy them inside the arena, and they are served in plastic glasses (with a lid if you want one) even if you buy a plastic bottle of water, they pour it in a plastic glass..so not much harm can be caused by throwing anything on the ice..You know at tal there was one winner and 42 losers, but only one driver had idiot fans who were sore losers…get over it..remember Dale sr made a living running other drivers into the wall..

April 30, 2007 at 2:34 pm
(47) Big Nick says:

The biggest whinners in Nascar, Dale Sr and Dale Jr. fans. You people need to realize the Jeff Gordon is class of the field in Nascar. Dale was good in his day but in today’s Nascar he would not have won 40 races. Looking at the years Jeff and Dale raced against one another Jeff won 53 races to Dale’s 29, Jeff won 3 championships to Dale’s 1. To me the numbers speak for themselve. The greatest Nascar driver, Jeff Gordon, face the facts and quit crying. Dale Jr. is a mediocre driver at best, I think he has like 13 wins. I am Dale Jr. fan but to think he or Dale Sr. is in the same class with Jeff Gordon is ridiculous. Quit whinning and ruining nascar you redneck Dale Sr. Fans.

April 30, 2007 at 2:58 pm
(48) Richard says:

tjones yes sometimes I do have alot to say. When I come on here, I take spells. Then again I don’t go around and call others idiots, at Least hope not. They been booing jeff for years now even before jr was racing. Then again I don’t go around and assume it is all jr fans doing the throwing. One thing they do as some of others have said put the drinks in plastic cups, and stop let coolers be brought in. Thats if they really want to stop it.

April 30, 2007 at 4:00 pm
(49) Anita says:

T-Jones I think that you are right about Jr. fans. I heard him say in an interveiw that he thought it was stupid and that his dad and Jeff were friends. That he wished that they would not do that. Richard– there is a differnce in booing someone and throwing trash at them. I dont like Harvick and would boo him probely but I would not throw stuff at him. I think that is the biggest thing people are comlaining about. The people who throw stuff are no better than the trash they throw.

April 30, 2007 at 5:06 pm
(50) jason says:

big nick… you were right about 1 thing in your whole paragraph, Gordon is not in the same class as Dale Sr. was… yet, but your paragraph was written like a true redneck “whiner”.

April 30, 2007 at 5:12 pm
(51) jason says:

Oh by the way… go Jr, god bless Dale Earnhardt, & I wish Jeff Gordon all the luck in the world with racing & his wife & kid, as well as all of the other drivers. They do what they can to entertain us.

April 30, 2007 at 5:27 pm
(52) Sam says:

Jason well in your short paragraph we know why you only can write short paragraphs. We also know how you can spot a whiner out from the rest. Should we tell you or can you figure it out. Then again with some people mentality all they can do is to call people rednecks. youshould take lessons from your kid if you have any to how to get along with others.

April 30, 2007 at 6:53 pm
(53) Ikstod says:

I hope that Jeff wins and wins and wins. Maybe those jerk fans will get so fed up with him winning that they completely give up and go the h*** home. The true fans who will cheer for the whoever is leading the race and wins. One of the reasons people make negative remarks about NASCAR is just what happened the last 2 races. They don’t think we are nice people and don’t want to be a part of us. Get a life beer can throwing people and maybe you’ll find that a true fan doesn’t care who wins just so they can cheer for someone. I myself think Jeff Gordon is the best driver and I DO cheer for all the drivers, I just love NASCAR. GOODBYE BUBBA AND MURPHY!!!!! Go find another sport to knock.

April 30, 2007 at 7:43 pm
(54) David says:

I was there & I am almost ashamed to be a NASCAR fan & almost ashamed of being white. You ever been hit with a full can of Bud from 100 ft. above you?I saw several ambulances leaving the track.I also saw a little boy next to me with his father that had a great time, but when the cans started flying ,it ruined his whole day.Way to go Red Army.

April 30, 2007 at 8:30 pm
(55) N.S. says:

The thing that gets me is no one can ever be like the great E senior, and i wish they would stop the comparison. Jeff will never be like like the great E for jeff has alot of attatude changes to go thru and he needs to stop the whineing and stop the comparison!!! When they interviewd Little E you could tell he was not that happy with Gordon. As for Johnson why is he not penalised for his ingnorane in the race for taking his own team mate out and then causing a big accident there after!!! What is wrong with Nascar Directors? The fans are loosing interest in racing and they need to hear the fans soon!!!!

April 30, 2007 at 9:30 pm

Jeff Gorden is a geat race driver..He never said he is trying to be like Dale senior…He get’s paid to win race’s..thats what he does.As far as the idiot’s throwing Junk,I don’t think Dale Senior would be very proud of that.
All the bad things we complain about this week will be next weeks Highlights..Nascar loves all the scandles and gossip.People keep saying there not going to watch anymore..I say ya right..you will be in from of the TV an hour before the race starts Saturday night….Go Jeff..To bad Earnhardt fans

Becareful Bruce by what you are saying about the people that when they say they are not going to watch nascar anymore. If you have read some, the tv rating are down and so has the people at the most tracks. Tracks could be the high prices, too But they are not filling them up like they use too.

THANK YOU 24tweety for telling me what happenned to Hamlin at the end. I have said Im not fond of HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS in general, but I have to give credit to Gordon. CONGRATS JG!!! Jeff/Jimmie/Kyle are not the problems here (for those who think they are) The problem is NASCAR. Hendrick is winning this year. A few years ago it was ROUSH. We also had a time when Elliot won everything. Lets not forget the year Rusty won everything. All of this may just be dumb luck. NASCAR however is trying to control the PEOPLE. That is where the problem lies. THANKS AGAIN 24TWEETY

(59) Big Nick says:

Earnhardt was a great driver but in a different time, Competition is way better now than back then, but I do give him credit because the car were probably harder to drive back when he dominated Nascar. I just get sick of the Earnhardt fans who want to say all Jeff Gordon does is whine and cheat to win. First of all the first people to cry in Nascar are Earnhardt fans and JR fans when Jeff wins. They guys is great race car driver and only time will tell where his place will be in Nascar history. He has passed almost every record Earnhardt had and done by the time he was 35 years old. If you do not like that is fine, but give the man credit, he deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence with the greatest of all time, the number do not lie. If Earnhardt was alive he would go in the stand himself after the IDIOTS that throw stuff on the track, ridiculous.

I for one am glad that I paid the $99.00 for NASCAR Hot Pass on Directv.
I cant believe how many commercials there have been fox lately, especially last weekend. If I did’nt have hotpass, I would be out mowing the lawn or something. For those of you NASCAR Die Hards like me want to really see and hear cussing about whats going on you should have heared Dale Jr., Tony Stewart and a few others dropping the “F” bomb all day long on the team audio option. I agree that the finish sucked! People throwing crap on the track sucked and it will probably only get worse until NASCAR and the drivers actually tell the fans to quit it or until a racer takes a full beer can through the face. Those idiots need to watch pro wrestling and leave NASCAR to the rest of us that really appreciate the sport of NASCAR racing.

oohh that wants me to go out and spend $99 so I can hear cussing and the F- word. I hear it enough at work why should I spend money to hear it when it’s free at work. I don’t know why people think cussing is cool to do. When we were kids and did it, yes we thought it was cool, but as grown ups? Oh well to each to their own I guess. Commercials? thats when I go out and mow my lawn during them. When the first one start I go out, and finish half of it before they show the races again. When the lawn is done I wash my cars and so on.

Hey Jason, after reading your comment that you have written to me concerning about my response, I take it that my comment that I had written to you went over your head.
If you had noticed that in my comment, you would have notice I never had written anything about how Earnhardts fans were whining.

Jason, if you also would have notice one thing on this site or any other one, most Nascar fans whine, and on top of that – the fans even whine about the whiners. My response to you was nothing about the whining it was about how you call others names when you did not agree with the other person.

Jason, I do have to agree with you about one thing, the comment that you made about the people that they seem have to throw stuff on to the track.

PS Jason Yes I do read all the way down. Thank you for asking.

Have a nice day now.

The comment about “the best car is the one that won” is kind of strange to me. Was I the only one that noticed at one time Tony Stewart was a lap down, got the lucky dog and was back up in the lead??? He had a strong car all day and worked very hard. I do not consider myself an idiot or a moron or any of my friends that was in attendance at the race in Talladega this weekend. No it isn’t right to through beer cans on the track, that is a little tacky. I did however think of the comment the DW made about the toilet paper but then realized that Jeff Gordon is a waste of even the cheapest tp there is. I think that it is sad to call yourself a winner when you didn’t really win anything but was scored as the winner under caution. I really think NASCAR should look at the rule for this that is in play.
The comment about “TRUE FANS”: A true NASCAR fan sticks by their driver no matter what kind of season they are having, not who is leading the race or leading in points. If you were as smart as you think you are you might realize that. I will never be a Jeff Gordon fan or Jimmie Johnson, I don’t care how many races they win or how many points they have. I will stick with my drivers no matter what, though the good times and the bad, that is what a “true fan” does!
Oh by the way Steve, I AM A PROUD REDNECK, no Talladega was not a good race at the end, and frankly I was pissed off!

(66) Big Nick says:

You Jeff haters are funny, he is lucky, he won under caution, bla bla bla, if that was Dale Jr winning under caution you guys don’t have anything to say. Jeff is a great driver, lets take this into consideration, Jeff was 14th, then in two laps he moved behind McMurray and watch a tape of the great move he used on McMurray but all you idots see is Jeff won under caution, not the way he go to the front. He has won numerous races under green as well. I am huge Gordon fan, I agree that races should end, racing but if that race would have ended under green, more than likely Jeff would have won and beer still would have been thrown and people would still be complaining about how he did it. JR said it best, he cannot win for losing. People love him or hate him, just like the did Earnhardt no in between but either way he is a great driver whether you like it or not. I hate Tony Stewart and Dale Sr, but they both are two of the greatest drivers to ever get behind the wheel, so you guys need to realize that about Gordon as well. If he wins Richmond, I am sure most of you will be on here next week saying he cheated.

(67) MURPHY says:

Gordon is a pretty good driver as are a lot over others, so whats the big deal about passing Earnhardt Sr in wins, when it’s not even close to the KING with 200 wins. When Gordon or any other driver gets number 201 then you’ll have something to really cheer about. How about a little class on these pages and stop calling other people names. PEACE TO ALL!!!

May 1, 2007 at 3:36 pm
(68) Sam says:

The king as you call him have gotten his 200 wins in a different nascar time. When he was racing, the majority of it when the engines was all different. He had 426’s they where 427’s, 426’s, 425’s even 390’s all with different horsepowers out there. As he have said several times, he won because they (his team) had the most money. In the today’s nascar he would never get that many wins. The twenty or so years he raced. Because all the engines are all the same in Cu In the horsepower pretty close the same. Nascar makes sure of that. Not like the old times. He’s was a good driver, but a car with more power than the others can help.

(71) MURPHY says:

Sam, some of what you say is true, but all the teams had the same equiptment available to them so it was more a matter of the best teams and drivers and how to use what they had. I always thought that was what a race was, not rules making everything exactly the same. The best teams with the best drivers and crew will always come out on top which is the way it should be unless the race is controlled to some degree by the people in control. There is so much money in the sport now that every team can have anything they want or can wish for so lack of money is no longer any excuse. PEACE!!!

(72) Ryan T. says:

I am proud to say that I’m a big fan of NASCAR. The drivers seem like pretty decent people and the fans are passionate about their favorites. Recently, the governing body of NASCAR has taken a few hits and has been compared to a dictatorship. In this day and age, I find this concept extremely refreshing. Most professional sports are being dictated by juiced-up record breakers, tattooed basket-brawlers, and hippie-lettuce toking thugs. The France Empire, however, remains relatively pristine. NASCAR fines those who don’t follow the rules, and severely punishes the cheaters. The rules of NASCAR aren’t perfect, but they are simple. If you follow the program and race hard, you’ll retire rich. If you do anything to jeopardize its image, you’ll be wrecked. If MLB were run like this, sport’s most hallowed record would be intact. Hammerin’ Hank is the man! Barry sucks!

First time I’ve read some of these. Seems all the idiots aren’t in the stands. Hey Bubba, did ya happen to notice that Jeff, Tony and Jimmy were like twenty spots out of first with eight laps to go? Ya race was fixed, you seen three of the best come to the front in four laps, just like your beloved E use to do, and look close, the wreck was behind the leaders, NASCAR quite often lets that go on at the end of a race until it’s obvious there’s going to be more. Safety first and I’m proud to be a true NASCAR fan.

(77) Sam says:

Murphy, yes you are correct all the teams had the same equipment available to them, but the KEY word here is money. Not all of the teams, I would say most of them, had the money that the petty team had then. As I mention before Richard himself had said he won because he had the money. The best teams had the best equipment, and the rest did the best they could do with what they had. Some of them did fairly well at it. I agree that was racing. What they have now, as what many other people have said bunch of cookie cutter drivers, and cars. In the 1990’ and 2000’s Richard if he were starting over he would never had gotten that many wins. Because the very reason you said, nascar rules to keep everything the same. Richard was a good driver in his day; no one cannot take that away from him.

(78) Eric says:

I’m a little late getting here, but to Bubba(comment 1).How would you explain throwing a caution as the best running Toyota blows up above the line of traffic. When you didn’t throw that caution at Daytona? Also there were two engines blown in the first what 15 laps and no cautions. If they are not creating a hazard dont throw the flag, let them get off the track, and let the race continue. If anyone wonders why Junior didn’t win, watch the last ten laps again,I am a junior fan(who by the way has never thrown a beer can at anything but a garbage can, from the sounds of most of you I must be the last one in existance)back on point- Junior had every chance to drop not only to the middle groove but down in front of J Gordon, before the caution and didn’t. I don’t know if that was his decision or words from the spotter but I believe it cost him the race. I did however enjoy watching the perils of Kyle this weekend not from a morbid point of view but can you imagine going through the crash on saturday and all the pains and stiffness that would cause only to get back in a car on sunday and go head on with a wall at 175 approx. by the time he hit. He hit hard enough to lift the back tires about 2 feet off the ground and still carry enough force to go back up to the outside wall and hit it. This guy will get back in a car next week and see what he hits trying to keep his job and chase his dreams. Any one here on the thread willing to do that to make a living?

First of all, to 9 fan, you’re welcome, I waiting because I thought someone would answer you while I put the soapbox away.
Now that things have calmed down, I really think that there could be someway helping, maybe of self-governing that race-fans could do to help stop these persons (I won’t call them idiots, I wouldn’t want to insult any idiots) from throwing beer cans, etc. onto the track. I was told it was a real mess at both tracks and the ‘language’. What about cell-phone pictures, like anyone doesn’t have one these days. Pictures turned over to authorities could bring a lot of fines, barring from NASCAR events, and just plain embarassment when seen on local and national TV. Tracks could offer rewards, put signs up on the fence saying so, for info leading to arrests. And if it saved one person (and heaven forbid it’s a child) from a severe bump and/or cut on the head, would’nt it be worth it. There is no way they can hire enough security for 30,000+ fans, so true grow-ups could help police these kids that haven’t matured or learned to handle their drunken-selves in public places.
There I tried to keep it civil, now any suggestions (on the mess). From a real RACE-fan (still got 8mm of them racing on the sand) and a RED-neck (yes there is a car on blocks behind the barn)

(80) Larry says:

The throwing of trash out on the track was a total disgrace to all present at Dega Sunday. There was enough trash on the track already. He was driving car #24.
When is NASCAR gonna admit that gordon is in bed with them for what ever reason?
It was in the paper Sunday at Talladega that if gordon won that they didnt want trash thrown out on the track. Were they expecting a win, or had they planned a win?

May 1, 2007 at 11:41 pm
(81) Larry says:

Steve, I have to agree with you that people should have not thrown anything on to the track, there was enough trash out there already. He was driving car #24.
I had a strong feeling that JG would win because of what was in the Talladega paper Sunday Morning. About track officials non wanting fans to throw things out on the track should jeff gordon won. Did the expect him to win or was it pre-planned. Gee I wonder.

By the way jeff & jimmie, when is Broke Back Speed way comming out?

I’m just sick of all the phoney cautions, no matter who wins. They can get rid of that lucky dog crap also; when a caution happens freeze the field, it’s not a safety issue. I love it, your drivers cannot beat Jeff or Jimmie so you guys do what Earnhardt fans do, whine, cry, and make excuses. I LOVE IT. Jeff is a great driver and you cannot stand it and every time I read your ridiculous posts it puts a big smile on my face. Face it Jr will never be as good as Jeff or Jimmie and Jeff and Jimmie will be mentioned with the greatest drivers of all time when their careers are done. Not only is Jeff doing as much on the track he did something Earnhardt could not do, when a championship with a car he owned. I love this, you guys are great, keep it going. Jeff will retire within 5 years and then you can quit whinning.

(84) Richard says:

What is funny here you have these so-called adults come on here such as Larry, Larry/Steve the same, walt in CA, the truckin pair, and a few others still doing the childish thing, name calling. Just to prove some just hasn’t grownup yet. One thing for sure is how PEOPLE have such a short memories. Big Nick I remember when jeff lost RAY his crew cheif, he started his own team. Jeff did not do crap until maybe until last year? He couldn’t hardly get out of his own way. If memory serves me right that was for 5-6 years. Now he doing good true, now hes the best of ever was? It’s just his time now, and that’s all. Just like it was Bill’s time in the 80’s. Maybe next year it will be another driver’s time. Jeff is a good driver but it’s just his time right now just as the hendricks team. Every year or two it’s a different driver/team that’s on top.

May 2, 2007 at 9:15 am
(85) Big Nick says:

You are right, every driver has his time but I am talking about a career, his career should rank among the best, making him one of the best ever. When he lost Ray, he still won a championship in 2001, looks good to me. Oh and Jeff couldn’t get out of his own way the last few years, besides Jimmie, he has won more races since 2002 then any other driver. So Jeff has the second most wins since 02 be he has been terrible. That is what makes him so great, he can win the second most races since 2002 but be considered in a slump because he has no championship. If any other driver won 18 races in that span they are doing great but not Jeff. Not to mention he lost the championship in 2004 by 16 points. As well he finished 4th in the points in 2002, 2003. So basically 2005 was a terrble year for him. If that was JR with those numbers people would say he should be in the Hall of Fame. know what you are talking about before you speak on it. Every year a driver gets hot I agree with you, my point was he needs to be mentioned with the greatest drivers of all-time. His numbers do not lie.

(86) Steve McCormick says:

I think the “Steve” in question is probably me. It is my site after all. :)

I think the local Talladega newspaper probably acknowledged that Jeff Gordon was a favorite because he was on the pole, had won the week before, and has a long history of being strong in restrictor plate races.

Lets not create any new conspiracy theories. I didn’t see NASCAR do anything questionable this week. All of the cautions and non-cautions seemed legitimate to me. I thought it was a well-officiated race and the fastest car won.

May 2, 2007 at 11:43 am
(87) lilrebel says:

My thoughts on throwing the caution like what happened in Talladega. If when they threw the caution for that and the field was frozen, why didn’t they throw the caution at Daytona for the same thing. Is it because if they had of Mark Martin would have won?? If you are gonna to make the rules then you need to make them not for one or two but the whole field. After seeing how the debris cautions are being used now, I honestly think they need to take another look at Daytona and at least apologize to Martin for screwing him out of a Daytona 500 win. That would have been a true caution bc they were wrecking on the track every where and that is because they were all trying to finish and had no where to go except into the wall or another car. Martin thought they were going to throw the caution, like normal, so he begins to slow down. Sorry Mark about getting screwed out of a victory that should have been yours.

May 2, 2007 at 3:34 pm
(88) Richard says:

NICK, Jeff is good all right, nobody should doubt it. He probably will go down as one of the best In modern nascar racing. Yes you compared him being a top contender to what? Face it out of 43 some cars how many really note worthy? Generally it’s the same cars in the top 10. I said generally. I also read he average #17 for a year here and something else another year. Nevertheless, who cares, that’s water under the bridge. My question why are you so fascinated with Jr? He is not the best nor is he not the worst. One thing for sure is, no matter how good you think a person is, there always be a better one come eventually.

May 2, 2007 at 4:32 pm
(89) Big Nick says:

I would agree, Earnhardt needs to realize that a better one has come along. You also can ask anyone you want, competition level is a lot harder now then back when Earnhardt and Petty drove. You might have 5 guys capable of winning back then, now at least 20 to 25 has a shot. Why do you think Earnhardt is considered the greatest driver of all time but has 124 less wins than that of Petty. You said he was terrible for like 5 years, my point was, his terrible is great years for some drivers and that is what makes a driver great. He can win more races than all others, be in the top 5 ever year in points, but not have a championship and he is in a slump. It is like A-Rod blasting 35 bombs last year with over 100 RBI’s, many people would kill to produce numbers like that, but A-Rod is a first ballot Hall of Famer so those numbers are not good enough. That was my point.

May 2, 2007 at 6:00 pm
(90) Richard says:

Nick I agree with some of your points. jeff’s bad years are far better than most good years. As far people thinking earnhardts being the greatest or any other driver for that matter, It’s a matter of opinion. Yes numbers don’t lie as you have said. but if a person don’t like a driver and that driver have won 99% of the races, he’s no good. You can see that on here. It’s just an Opinion. You mention petty winnings over earnhardts, I have to agree with Sam on #68 and #77 When petty was driving therules was alot different back then. As Sam have said Petty himself said he won because his team had the money. If he was racing today I agree with Sam again he would not have won that many. Really a person can’t compare the old days of nascar with the new. It’s too different now. Only thing I dodn’t agree with is you said about 20-25 teams have a chance nows days in winning compare to the old days when only 5 teams yes you are right, but I reality still only 5-6 teams have a chance. That on thing has not change in nascar. I have one question I don’t think Earnhardt ever complain about the winnings, Sr dead and jr I don’t think I ever heard him say anything. Unless you was talking about his fans. If you was it does not matter then you have your opinion and they have theirs along with jimmies, busches, etc fans.

(91) oneforthethumb says:

What a bunch of idiots…and I’m referring to the fans throwing beer cans at Talladega, as well as to some of the morons who have posted below. Last time I checked, Jeff Gordon has 4 championships and twice as many wins as any active driver. That in itself should tell you he knows how to pick his spots in races. To all you “race-fixing” conspiracists, let’s not forget that just two years ago, both Gordon AND Little E BOTH missed the Chase for the Cup…if Nascar was seriously involved in fixing races, do you think for a minute they would have let arguably their two most marketable drivers miss out on the championship? Yeah, I didn’t think so…

They are making it bad for the rest of the fans. Thank you officers!!!

Onforthethumb, nice name, take it you are a Gordon fan. I love the point your brought up, all these Jr fans want to act like Nascar fixes races if so, why isn’t JR doing better, Nascar knows he is the most popular driver and the buzz around him dominating would create huge ratings. Good point.

HASCAR is about to learn the benefits of the junk on the track – the sales of beer at ten bucks a cup or coke at 6 bucks a cup, or water at 2 bucks a cup, 3 with ice. Just check with Rocky Mountain Racetrack in Salt Lake City. You can’t make money on what the fan brings to the race.

Idiots throwing trash on the track at any racing venue CAN NOT BE TOLERATED! In most states, I live in Florida, thowing a projectile at a moving car is a FELONY!!!!

You can boo or write bad things on chat sites. But you should never throw anything on the track or in the stands! Some of the cans were full! if they fell short, someone could have gotten hurt. But racing isd a sport of Kings , not beer belly hicks! If it is by car , foot, bicycle, or animal, racing is one of the oldest and most respected sports. From the Formula One World championships to the local Saturday night races, fans flock to see their athletes compete. we go, not to see pain or violence but to see the beauty of competition! But these Idiots are type type that go for the crash or the smell of burning flesh! They live in a make believe world of violence and need violence to appriciate life! They are below contempt!

I feel sorry that loyal fans have to let NASCAR put up with this behavior. No other sport allows beveages to be taken into the ballpark or stadium as a rule. And that is not just to sell drink, but to keep these fans from doing to their sports what NASACAR fans did a Talladega! NASCAR should ban all coolers and sell beveages in paper or plastc cups that can not get on the track! If Mike Helton and the France family does not clean up their fans, they will lose the respect of the decent people who enjoy their sport. It only takes one incident, a fan throwing something on the track DURING a race and causing a crash to justify my comments. Lets stop this behavior at the tracks before we are all sorry. Remember, we might be sorry if an injury occures, but those idiots will just see it as a fun thing watching the distruction they commit!

Nascar’s image was damaged far greater than the words that Tony Stewart threw their way. It makes me sick just thinking about the idiotic conduct of those jerks. They don’t merit being called race fans!

Let’s look at the numbers. They indicate that #24 is a more successful driver than #3 was. The DuPont Team has beaten Earnhardt Sr’s record in 10 less years with about 200 fewer starts. If you exterpolate those figures Jeff Gordon will make it to 2nd of all time wins by age 45.

(100) Nell says:

I agree with Bubba and Murphy that Nascar fixes the races, when it comes to the golden rich boys of Nascar, Gordon and Johnson. I agree with Tony Stewart also. They can make or break a race when it come,s down to the winner. They won,t Gordon and Johnson to win. They do not want Dale Jr or the rest of the good old Southern boys to win races. Their all out for the Hollywood scene and the money that comes with it. To hell with Nascar and when Tony Stewart spoke his mind Nascar put an end to it right away. The good old Southerens started these races, not the California boys. Look at who,s winning all of these races Johnson and Gordan and I know, no one can be that damned good. Jr. should have taken the 3 flag away from Gordon and shaved it down his damn throat. I also was so disquised, that it just made me sick.

Keep your voice heard Tony, because if you don,t, we are in for Johnson and Gardon to win every damn race. They made J. go on stage and tell the fans to keep your angry in check, when they knew who was going to win that race.

Watch out Nascar, because you may be heading North, instead of South.

(101) Cuz Mike says:

If Mark Martin can be level-headed about Daytona’s final yellow, I’d expect Bubba to come around–after a few beers anyway.

I think it boils down to simplicity and consistency, which are difficult to achieve when cars are bouncing off of each other.

Are “wrecked” cars treated differently from the unscathed when the field is frozen?

I am confused about how they decide to the throw the yellow (Daytona -vs- Talledega) and also how they freeze the field when the yellow is out. Tony Stewart had yet to crash when the yellow was first out (God Bless TIVO instant replay, the track light was yellow), but listed as 28th in the final results. He crashed, so under the old rules that finish makes sense, but I thought the new rule was that the field was frozen at the “instant” the yellow was thrown and video/telemetry were used to recreate who was where at that instant.

(102) Netracer41 says:

Here is an opinion. Dale Sr. wouldn’t even get a ride in Cup today. He was not articulate or good looking enough. If he did somehow get a job his style of driving would keep him laps down due to rough driving penalties. Anyone?

May 3, 2007 at 6:14 pm
(103) paul says:

Net Racer heres one for you. If Richard Petty were to try and get a ride today he wouldnt either. He had a major sponsor and out priced all the other teams back when many of the guys who competed in nascar were just local racers. As for Dale Earnhardt he wasnt getting penalized for rough riding when he was still alive and that wasnt that many years ago and how many rough riding penalties do you ever see in races give me a break.

It looks like most of the people complaining about Gordon winning are Junior fans. Well, you’re all just jealous that Gordons doing well and Junior sucks!!! Get over it, we are suppose to be adults not babies!!!!

(105) JJ Fan says:

Hey Nell #100…is your bud full or empty when you heave it on the track? Just curious. Oh, by the way, I like BIG NICK’S comments. As far as you calling JJ & Jeff sissys…..hmmmm. If that were true, why are your “BOYS” always sucked up JJ & Jeff’s tailpipe? Go JJ & Jeff !!!!!!!!!!!

(106) BIGREDWOODY says:

HOWDY ALL,
I’D LIKE TO KNOW IF THESE PEOPLE REALLY THINK NASCAR HAS SOO MUCH PULL AS TO MAKE…6, I THINK, DRIVERS CRASH THEIR $100,000.00 CARS IN THE LAST FEW LAPS SO THAT GORDON COULD WIN..? NOT TO MENTION THAT THE SECOND TO LAST CAUTION WASN’T A GOOD THING FOR GORDON! HE HAD PULLED AWAY FROM ALL THE OTHER DRIVERS WHEN THAT CAUTION CAME OUT!
STARTING TO THINK SOME OF YOU MUST BE WATCHING SOME OTHER RACE. I KNOW EVERY-1 SEES THINGS DIFFERENTLY BUT COME ON…OPEN YOUR EYES. NOW TRY YOUR MINDS. NASCAR CAN DO SOME THINGS BUT THEY ARE NOT GODS, THEY CAN NOT MAKE ONE CAR WIN OVER ANOTHER NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO! IT’S UP TO THE DRIVER AND HIS TEAM AS TO WHO WINS AND WHO LOOSES.
CONGRATS TO GORDON & HIS TEAM FOR THEIR WIN! IT WAS A GOOD RACE!

(107) JBFan31 says:

Sunday sucked! Jimmy Johnson wrecking everyone, but nothing being done to him, if this had been Tony it would have been a different story. Then to top it off NASCAR letting Jeff Gorden win, by not throwing the caution before he took the lead after Rudderman blew up. I seen it before and I’m sure I’ll see it again.
However, throwing beer cans and WATER BOTTLES, may not have been in good taste and we all know it puts other fans in danger, but if NASCAR would ban alcohol from the racetrack, alot of fans would not attend these races and NASAR would lose money. It’s not only the BEER DRINKERS who showed their disapproval of NASCAR’S decision by throwing things, but people always think that it’s the Alcohol that makes the FAN act out in this way. All I want is to see good clean racing, that is WHY I’m a Jeff Burton Fan. JEFF BURTON IS A GOOD, CLEAN DRIVER WHO DOESN’T GO AROUND WRECKING OTHER DRIVERS TO WIN A RACE. I have seen both Johnson and Gordon do this. We can point fingers all night, but in the end there is always next week! Support your Driver and be a good sport about it. GO JB

(108) Richard says:

As I have said before, it is only an opinion who is the greatest. You find a book about Jeff is the greatest, and if you look, again they will be another book that will say the opposite. These opinions are like polls; whatever is out there, you can be sure is there’s another poll out there saying something different. It is hard for anybody to make that kind of statement for one reason is it is a different playing field out there now. Some people out there could very easily say the drivers of today are not in the same class as the older ones. Some may feel the older drivers where better than the new breed. Because the driver really had to drive the car instead of today’s cars that is set up so well they almost could drive for themselves. I agree Jeff is one of the best in today’s breed of drivers, but of all time? No way tells that because of the so many rules changes that is going on now. To those clowns that say jeff and jimmie are a sissy. Well the only thing I can say by calling them that, you must know what a sissy is right? So what a person a jr fan or a jeff fan, a fan of this driver or that one. Who cares?

(109) joe stinker says:

Jbfan So what if they banned beer (bring your own) to the tracks. If those people quit comming then that would solve the problem. A few hundred out of how many thousands? Oh by the way they been throwing stuff long before Sundays race.

(110) chris in michigan says:

i think we should think about the finish at daytona everyone complained about that one too.nascar is not god and not perfect at all. i think the best car and driver won. even though i am not a gorden fan at all. i also hope the cops caught all the trash throwers as well.

May 3, 2007 at 10:41 pm
(111) Steve McCormick says:

Cuz Mike. Tony’s position WAS frozen in line when the yellow came out. However, he rule says that you have to maintain pace car speed in order to hold your position. Tony was wrecked so he lost his position.

There were still two laps left in the race and Tony did not complete those laps. If Tony had been able to limp around behind the pace car he would have been ok. He couldn’t.. so he was scored as the first car two laps down. 28th.

(112) Bruce L. says:

Look a few years ago none of these people complained when Jr. benefitted from more D ontrack flags than anyone!
They are not chevies fords or camrys’
it is the WWF of motor sports and
it won’t get any better until it is on down hill slidfe ala pro baseball etc.
To much money look around at empty seats. Look put a new rear independent suspenion under cars and you would see racing! Ever see a gfront end break loose? Hell we can’t do that then biggest appeal would be gone “cautions”!
Tony hit it correctly! If Jr. had won everybody would be ga ga!

(113) Amanda says:

What Jeff Gordon say was not right at all because Dale SR is the best driver in Nascar and Jeff did not need to win.I am the bigger JR fan and i think that he need to win the race and what the fan did was not right but i think that it wasd funny.
