2007 Sees Drivers On The Move

Monday February 5, 2007
This year the addition of the new Toyota teams has really scrambled the driver lineup. Do you know who will be driving the 00, 01, 6, 13, 15, 19, 21, 25, 36, 38, 42, 44, 49, 70, 72, 83, 84 and 88 cars during the 2007 NEXTEL Cup season? Every single one of those cars has a new driver for 2007. I'm going to need a scorecard in Daytona to keep everybody straight.

If you want to study up on the 2007 driver changes before Daytona Jayski has the best 2007 Team "Silly Season" Chart showing all of the changes for this season.

I was just wondering. If Chad Knaus gets caught cheating again. Does Nascar consider his prior offense or do they give him a slap on the wrist Thanks

February 5, 2007 at 10:13 am
(2) TLabonte Fan says:

Steve,

I’m with you. I’ll be watching intently all the while making mental note of the new names and numbers. Not to mention new and additional sponsors and paint schemes.

Mike G,
I say if Chad Knaus gets caught with a rules infraction we cut his hands off at the wrist and consider that payment in full for lifetime cheating.

GET OVER IT! JJ won.

February 5, 2007 at 11:07 am
(3) my take says:

I say if he gets caught again or any other crew chief, they be barred for a year. That would stop it. “Get over it”, JJ won? Who cares that’s OLD news. Just like who won the Super Bowl last year, does anybody know who won or better yet does anybody care. By May, no one will care who won the Super Bowl this year.

February 5, 2007 at 11:11 am
(4) Jim M says:

They already played the Super Bowl?

February 5, 2007 at 11:12 am
(5) Steve McCormick says:

Mike G: NASCAR does have a policy of penalty escalation. So if someone else gets caught for the same rules infraction the penalty goes up for the second offender AND/OR if the same person becomes a repeat offender then the penalties go up everytime they get caught.

I don’t think Chad wants to get caught again. It would be bad for him this year.

(6) john parker says:

tony stewart wins championship this year

February 5, 2007 at 11:36 am
(7) my take says:

Jim M. – Good one. After the last lap in a race, After the last point has played in a game, or what ever it is, WHO cares! It’s water under the bridge. A new race or game is coming. Am I gloom? No! just facing reality.

February 5, 2007 at 12:31 pm
(8) Sooners says:

If Ray Evernham and Chad Knaus would have been caught for all the times they cheated, especially for the traction control, they would have been banned for life.

February 5, 2007 at 12:45 pm
(9) TLabonte Fan says:

When it comes to traction control look no further than Ryan Newman. Ever since they cracked down hard on that little issue he has done nothing but back pedal. He was the original owner of that little snafu. I guess we can add Penske or Ryans crew chief at the time to that list. That would have been circa 2003, who was his crew chief then?

February 5, 2007 at 12:56 pm
(10) TLabonte Fan says:

mytake,

I lost interest in who won the SuperBowl at about 10 pm last night! What are you talking about May? Did you see the post game celebration? Empty stadium, boring game. NASCAR needs to pay attention to the N(o) F(un) L(eauge), and not drive its fan base away by completely changing the sport and having a bunch of millionaire crybaby drivers, like the NFL has millionaire crybaby thugs.

February 5, 2007 at 1:19 pm
(11) my take says:

TLabonte Fan, I was giving the benifit of the doubt, when I said May. As in the NASCAR races I did not watch all of the game last night either. No I did not see the post game either. Agree with you about Nascar needs to pay attention.

(12) jjfan says:

your all just mad cuz jimmie will win again this year

February 5, 2007 at 3:35 pm
(13) J.D. says:

Whats the “SUPER BOWL” ?????

February 5, 2007 at 3:43 pm
(14) Mike G says:

Thanks Steve I had to ask the question. Also I was wondering when Chad Knaus got suspended last year for 3 races Were’ nt they communicating via telephone

February 5, 2007 at 4:24 pm
(15) MURPHY says:

ISN’T IT NICE TO SEE ALL THE DRIVER AND CREW LOYALTY TO THERE SPONSERS AND FANS?THE SPOILED MILLIONARE DRIVERS DON’T REALLY CARE WHO THEY DRIVE FOR AS LONG AS THEY GET THERE SPONSERS MONEY. NOTE TO TLABONTE FAN, NASCAR IS ALREADY MORE BORING THAN THE NFL AND IS LOOKING LIKE THE WWE. NASCAR IS RUINING THE SPORT!!!

February 5, 2007 at 5:29 pm
(16) j friday says:

i think that tony stewart will win the championship in 07 just my thoughts

February 5, 2007 at 5:58 pm
(17) TLabonte Fan says:

I think the announcers did elude to the fact that Knaus was on the phone with the crew. I guess they were relaying info to JJ, and I’m sure Chad was putting in his two cents. Surely your not suggesting that they revoke his phoning privilages? And I promise not to call you Shirley again.

I agree with Steve in the fact that Chad can ill afford to have any “cheating/rules bending issues.” Also agree with mytake, its water under the bridge. Let it go. What happens if JR. intentionally spins himself to stay on the lead lap??…..

February 5, 2007 at 6:02 pm
(18) Tlabonte Fan says:

j friday,

I am a Bobby Labonte fan now that Terry is retired, but I put my money on Biffle to win the championship this year.

February 5, 2007 at 6:58 pm
(19) number 8 says:

WHY ARE RACE FANS SUCH CRY BABIES ?
IF THEIR DRIVER DOESN’T WIN THE CRY AND BLAME OTHER DRIVERS AND CREWS!

February 5, 2007 at 9:36 pm
(20) TLabonte Fan says:

number 8,

Your intro implies that you may be a JR. fan. If not, disregard. If so, there is not a pile of fans anywhere on the face of the planet that will ever resemble the amount of crybabies, nasty, in your face type of fans than you and your brethren. JR. must win ALL races, and when he does not it must be some force that only JR. fans can account for. If Jr clobbers a guy into the wall to win….well thats just racin…if Jr gets the short end of “thats just racin,” then Vickers and crew receive some death threats.

February 5, 2007 at 9:48 pm
(21) TLabonte Fan says:

I ahve clarified before, but feel the need to do so again after that last post. I like Jr. and have the ultimate respect for his talents. I am happy for him when he does well. Broken record time…..his fans BLOWwwwwwww!

(25) Mike says:

Yeah this cheating thing has gotten out of hand and some teeth have to be put in it. Do you really think Chad had no contact during the race with his creww. Come on with technology the way it is he was calling the shots whether anybody would admit to it or not.

February 5, 2007 at 11:33 pm
(26) MattFan says:

Come on Mike,
and others. Cheating is part of NASCAR, always has been, anyone remember Smokey Yunick? So called “cheating” could also be called “advancements in technology” JJ won the championship and did it with WAY more class than some one like Tony ever could do. I’m not a JJ fan, but he won it good and clean.

February 6, 2007 at 1:10 am
(27) TLabonte Fan says:

MattFan,
Your floggin a dead horse, but I disagree that Tony may be lacking in class?? Tony is a class act..period!

I wanted to expand on my thoughts about NASCAR’s future based on what the N(o) F(un) L(eague) is doing. Sorry thats NACAR to you jack.
The Indianapolis Colts/Baltimore Colts won the super bowl. So, The old fans of the Colts…or the now Baltimore Ravens got shunned. And what are the Baltimore Ravens? I think that they really are the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland can at least say that 10 of there players have been arrested this year alone. Great! Along with the fact that they are really just some made up team years after the original exodus of the real Browns to Baltimore.
Lets Digress, The Phoenix Cardinals are really the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams are the L.A/Oakland Rams..the Raiders have moved back and forth from city to city at their owners whim. The Oilers are the Titans, and reside in Tennessee, the Texans have replaced them in Houston..and again are a team fabricated out of money and nothing else. The Jaguars and Panthers prowl the east coast…I’ve been to Florida and North Carolina…Never saw a Jaguar or Panther one. Saw plenty of Alligators in Florida. College Football has the NFL by the little shorties!
Why is this NASCAR worthy….Keep taking away track after track. Continue to change the format year after year…all in the name of the dough. Take away another North Wilkseboro..take away another Darlington Labor Day..take Daytona…take….Whats next?
NASCAR…I love ya, but really, your roots are what brung ya. Stop taking all of the Stallworts we have been to and love.

I think this year has been the worst for NASCAR same storys week after week the Nascar web sit has one new item per day and I just keep reading the same from you steve. Now it is pay to see anything sirus and france are going to ruin the sport.I think Nascar will lose a lot of fans this year.No more races on the radio unless you pay.I know there has to be a lot going on.We are all not Dale jr,johnson, fans we like all the drivers.

February 7, 2007 at 11:02 am
(33) chuck says:

what is this superbowl you are all talking about?

February 7, 2007 at 11:19 am
(34) my take says:

Hey chuck, It’s one of those things that most have no idea who have won, and what it was the day after the event. IE. Superbowl, NASCAR championships, NBA etc. However, NFL is doing something right. Where as NASCAR is loosing their audience (on TV) because the commercials, the NFL superbowl is gaining their audience for their commercials.

Speaking about Crybabies~~~ Stewart!!

February 8, 2007 at 5:00 pm

Just name one driver that don’t cry. Name a year when a drivers has not cried in the past 20 some odd years.

If you live in a city where the race comes through, you are so lucky because DALE the movie is only being shown in movie theatres following the race. I heard it’s really good and that people have been camping out to see it. I got tickets at http://www.fathomevents.com

February 8, 2007 at 10:14 pm
(40) MattFan says:

Sarah: nice spam
J buchan: How dare you call the great untouchable Tony Stewart a crybaby? He is so much more than the common crybaby. Example: Daytona, 2006. After saying that aggressive driving is going to kill some one, he tries to prove it. Extreme hypocrite maybe, but common crybaby? The untouchable Tony Stewart is far above that!
Seriously, Tony is probably one of the very best drivers NASCAR has, but he is such a freacking prick.

February 9, 2007 at 7:42 am
(41) David Morris says:

You all are complaining like Chad is the only one who got caught cheating. I would bet some type of cheating has gone on for a while in NASCAR and that some people have gotten away with it. If your driver doesn’t win you always find fault with the other drivers. Deal with it. Not everybody favorite driver always wins. For all you Gordon fans let’s see how much Gordon cries if things go his way. Let the season begin.

February 9, 2007 at 9:34 am
(42) j1srus says:

Penalities for breaking a Rule isn’t about the rule of even breaking it. Penalities are imposed based on MONEY. Ask yourself, would NASCAR ban Tony Stewart or Dale Jr for a year? NO WAY!!! and why? Because the sport would lose to much MONEY!!!

February 11, 2007 at 8:31 am
(43) john says:

In case some have forgotten Jeff Gordon’steam was once qeustioned about treating tires to soften them up. Rick Hendrick was convicted of mail fraud. Chad was probably following one of his two owners orders. I think the H.M.S. Team is made up of cheaters and they have lost me as a fan. Go R.C.R.

February 12, 2007 at 3:38 pm
(44) Tj says:

I thought the Superbowl was the Daytona 500. Rule violations are about as bad as getting “Bumped” in the corner at 180mph. Everybody does it and everybody pays the price in the long run.

February 16, 2007 at 6:18 am
(45) Bruce says:

Go Tony…..The 2007 Champ…can you see it Coming?..Well maybe not,But it’s looking good!
