2007 Is a Key Season for NASCAR

Wednesday January 3, 2007
The 2007 NASCAR season could be very important for the future of the sport. Last season saw NASCAR decline in popularity. Television ratings and attendance were down for many events. Now for 2007, NASCAR has a number of changes on tap. Will these changes attract more fans than they drive away?

(1) MURPHY says:

OF ALL THE CHANGES I’VE HEARD OF THEY WILL DRIVE MORE REAL FANS AWAY. NASCAR JUST DOENS’T CARE ABOUT THE OLDER FANS THAT HAVE SOME IDEA WHATS GOING ON, THEY ONLY WANT CHANGES THAT THEY THINK WILL BRING IN MORE MONEY. THERE IRON FIST CONTROL OF EVERYTHING WILL EVENTUALLY RUIN NASCAR. THE SLIDE WILL CONTINUE!!!!!

January 3, 2007 at 10:40 am
(2) Gary says:

NASCAR SHOULD GO BACK TO WHAT MADE IT GREAT. THESE CHANGES WILL RUIN THE SPORT AND PUT IN IN THE SAME RANK AS FIGURE SKATING.

January 3, 2007 at 11:30 am
(3) Bruce says:

I give up on you (NASCAR), you have already made enough changes to drive me away. You have renewed my interest in Soccer!!

January 3, 2007 at 12:20 pm
(4) Mark says:

Junk this so called car of the future or just put robots in them. Lets go back to basics and race like number 3 would have.

January 3, 2007 at 1:44 pm
(5) TLabonte Fan says:

No doubt this last season was pretty low on the list in regards to excitement. I agree with Murphy that us older fans who remember the heyday are really getting annoyed with all of the changes. I never for one moment thought NASCAR was broken. I dont know why they ever decided to try to “fix” it??? The COT is a ridiculous idea. Enough of the MEGA teams! The new rule limiting car ownership is about the only good change NASCAR has made recently. Unless your Jack Rousch and then the new rule applies only if it does not apply? Sound stupid? It is!

By the way, all the J.J./he’s a cheater bashers out there, here is some food for thought. I recall a race where the 8 car intentionaly spun himself to bring out a caution to keep from going a lap down. Anybody remember that? Now that, my friends, is blatant cheating! By a driver, not some wrench bender.

January 3, 2007 at 2:07 pm
(6) Rob says:

The Car Of Tommorrow is a joke. What happen to the different body styles and Brands? If i wanted to see the everyone drive the samething, I’d watch IROC. They keep changing thing just to increase their bottomline. They are not doing it for the fans. I say the fans should start staying home and see how far NASCAR will grow without the real fans! I for one will not sit time aside anymore on a weekend just to watch a race.

January 3, 2007 at 2:12 pm
(7) Jessica says:

Ive only been a nascar fan for the past two years, but even i agree the car of tomorrow is total crap. I dont watch nascar to see a bunch of POS rice rockets race around. No i watch it to see american made cars battle it out…These changes arent going to make the sport better…they are going to make it worse!!! So sad :(

January 3, 2007 at 2:15 pm
(8) was a fan says:

I don’t pay to see Japanesse cars race.

January 3, 2007 at 2:33 pm
(9) my take says:

Tlabonte fan, Yes I remember that when #8 spun himself out. He was caught and fine for it. So what is your point?

January 3, 2007 at 3:09 pm
(10) weed says:

Might as well play a video game that’s what all this crap is turning into. Everybody hated NBC what’s going to happen when ESPN get’s in?? Seen a NHRA race on ESPN2? Talk about crap they have way more TV breaks then racing and Marty whats his name doesn’t know a damnned thing about racing. I’ve been a fan since the late ’60’s let’s get back to REAL RACING!!!!

January 3, 2007 at 4:37 pm
(11) TLabonte Fan says:

mytake,

Touche, J.J. and team have been caught and penalized.

I just dont care for all the bashers stating that J.J. cheated his way to a championship. Most all of those I encounter who make this claim are Jr. fans. Just making a point to them that those who live in glass houses shouldnt throw rocks.

Thank God no more NBC. Lets hope that helps this year.

January 3, 2007 at 6:09 pm
(12) David says:

I have been a fan of NASCAR for some 35 yrs now and last year was the first time I actually lost intrest. I am not sure that I will be watching this year because there are to many good movies on. If NASCAR keeps going the way it is there will not be enough fans left for it to keep going.
NASCAR, Go back to the way it was when Richard Petty, Dale Earndardt SR and Darrel Waltrip were racing. At least then it was interesting.

January 3, 2007 at 6:59 pm
(13) aruofone says:

This is the last season for me, it’s a shame how something can be going so well, and a greedy punk can change it!!!!!!!!

January 3, 2007 at 7:25 pm
(14) my take says:

Tlabonte fan, I’m not touchy at all. If people have notice there been several teams been caught cheating. You should never assume what people are if they complain about a driver. I don’t have a favorite driver, haven’t had one for the last several years. Now days if you see one driver, you seen them all Just as in the cars. I like some drivers, the ones I can’t stand is #5,2 cars. Iv’e said once, and I say it again the LAST of the Nascar drivers are gone when Terry Labonte retired. I really don’t believe johnson would not have won if it wasn’t the chase crap.

January 3, 2007 at 8:30 pm
(15) Gary says:

PLEASE GET BACK TO REAL RACING AND FORGET ABOUT THIS CAR OF THE FUTURE, AND LET FORD BE FORD AND CHEVY BE CHEVY AND DODGE BE DODGE I’M TIRED OF ALL THE CARS LOOKING THE SAME. I WILL GIVE NASCAR ONE MORE YEAR AND I HAVE BEEN A FAN FOR AROUND THIRTY YEARS. IN THE LAST FEW YEARS IT HAS STARTED TO LOSE MY INTEREST STARTING WITH THIS STUPID CHASE THING. GET BACK TO BASICS FRANCE.

January 3, 2007 at 11:03 pm
(16) Jay says:

I totally agree with David. Last year was the first time I lost interest in Nascar. The “Chase” races at the end were unwatchable. The top ten drivers are so afraid to make a mistake, and all the other drivers are trying to stay away from them (except for the #25 at Talladega) that it is just 43 cars going for a Sunday drive around the campground. If they just kept the point system the way it was, but awarded a lot more points for wins, there would be guys bumping, banging, and driving the wheels off those cars to get the win. Oh, and for the whole “car of tomorrow” thing. SCRAP IT before you lose the die-hard fan base that made you a rich man, Mr. France!

January 3, 2007 at 11:10 pm
(17) Sharon says:

MY self and most of the fans I know agree The C.O.T. is a bunch of crap. I watched my husband build and race stock cars for years. After he stoped driving them he put our son-in-law behind the wheel.Because of all the changes they both stoped caring about racing.Stock car racing is dieing and you are nailing the lid shut on the sport with your chase and the C.O.T. so we will never watch again. You do not remember your fans who made you what you was before all your bull **** changes.

January 3, 2007 at 11:24 pm
(18) jerry says:

Thanks for killing the only past time I had.I started watching racing 20 years ago and loved it.Your chase made it seem like baseball oor football witch I hate. Now your car of tomorrow make it like some kids video game. when RICHARD PETTY raced you had racing. But like RICHARD the real racers are retired or gone to a real race track, and GOD is watching them on Sundays. If you ever go back to real racing and leave the cry baby sissies out of it I might start buying tickets again. I can watch a bunch of old ladies make quilts and enjoy it more.SO LONG AND GOOD RIDANCE.

January 4, 2007 at 12:04 am
(19) cal says:

I thank you should do away with the chase leave it open to the best car and driver.also limet the amount of cars a owner can have. i am a 70 year old fan but it has changed to much. keep making the cars safer.

January 4, 2007 at 2:13 am
(20) Neil says:

An old fan who has lost interest, because I do not want to spend hours in traffic and sit for 500 miles
to see some car from japan race. The way to make interesting, the drivers should pick a car number to drive in the race. A different one every race.

January 4, 2007 at 6:42 am
(21) pyrro says:

This will be the last year for season tickets at a number of tracks. What was not broken now cannot be fixed with the limited ability of NASCAR ownership. In business if it is working then don’t attempt to correct it. Nearly all the other comments are true to a point. Kill this point system and return to the old one.

January 4, 2007 at 7:07 am
(22) Beth says:

The negatives: The Car of Tomorrow is down right ugly and reminds me of an import. I usually take 1,000+ photos during a Cup race & double that if its a 3 race weekend. However in 07′, all COT races are off my travel plans and I will not photograph the COT.
The “Chase” has watered down the very things that made Nascar unlike other sports. I do however, agree with adjusting the points system.
Lastly, the networks have made a joke of their talent and technology broadcasting Nascar races. The fans miss far too many restarts and only occassionally show pitstop elapsed time. Offer racefans, quality detailed coverage like you give to other sporting events and ratings will be the reward.
The positives:
The fans I meet, at any race. It’s so easy to start a conversation with a complete stranger when you automatically have things in common.
One of my favorite experiences from the first time and every race I’ve gone to since…Its the incredible power you feel, when all 43 cars make their 2nd lap nearing 180mph.
Like lots of other fans, I spend a great deal of time and money supporting Nascar. Change can be good, however history and traditions are the backbone to Nascar’s success.

January 4, 2007 at 8:01 am
(23) Andy says:

I’m 63 and been a NASCAR fan for 50 years and I agree with the consensus that NASCAR has gone “down the tubes”. I have watched or taped just about every race (close to 100 tapes). I’m going to start watching the good races from 70’s and 80’s in lieu of the NASCAR COT fiasco.
NASCAR>>Start racing what the manufacturers build like the old days, that will slow them down.
Hey Steve, are you going to send these to Brian??

January 4, 2007 at 8:12 am
(24) mike says:

I think the points system is a joke.I hve to be honest i am a #9 fan and have been for the longest time, but this yrs racing season was a joke. How can a driver win the most races and grab the most poles and yet finsh 8th in the championship…..if nascar cant figure that out, well then they may lose me as a fan…COME ON NASCAR GET IT RIGHT !

January 4, 2007 at 10:07 am
(25) Dave says:

Come back to the real racing, get rid of the babies and let the REAL men race. The COT is a pile of dog dung, and what do you do with that? You shovel it into the garbage pile. Ever since Earnhardt SR’s death NASCAR has been going to hell in a hand basket and there are still some drivers who do not belong in that basket.

January 4, 2007 at 1:53 pm
(26) Margit says:

5 cars for Roush? Give me a break! Bad enough with all the new changes and that “impossible new” car. Why Roush doesn’t start his own track, then he can win all the time and give the other drives a fair chance. They basically have to cheat to get anywhere and then they get fined. Ah! Wonderful world of NASCAR that went to pot. Makes it bad if you have a favorite driver and he doesn’t belong to Roush, now if your favorite is in that team….you got it made! I guess all the fans that are watching for over 40 years and are dropping off, don’t mean nothing. What is the next, no more races on TV? As I heard, the are not building the track in WA, because they are afraid not enough money will come in. Gee !!! I wonder why? And we here in WA really looked forward to it, since a lot of us old fans can’t drive clear across country to watch a race. I just hope, that NASCAR will wake up and pay attention to their fans, because with out them, what will they have???

January 4, 2007 at 2:22 pm
(27) NC Cajun says:

I can’t agree more with the displeasure of the fans… but like they say, “Follow the money…” They close the old short tracks that built NASCAR because they are not as big of money makers. But what kills me is there are NO stock cars even today. You can’t tell the Ford from the Chevy, and now they are bringing us this IROC based machine! Heaven forbid if somebody bumps someone in retaliation or says ‘dang it’ on the radio. This is a sport to be enjoyed by the good ol’ boys but the drivers are not allowed to act like good ol’ boys. Go figure.

I remember the good ol’ days (no kids)when I would grab the mattress and throw it on the living room floor and my wife and I would watch the race in the buff! How’s that for an unwanted NASCAR visual! But this past year, instead of heading home from church in a hurry to catch the start, we were more inclined to find some Seinfeld reruns! Next year, the races will mean even less and I will NOT be taking my RV to the races.
Well, Sundays will be more time for picnics and away from TV unless it is NFL season.

January 4, 2007 at 2:50 pm
(28) Jessica says:

So you realize what needs to happen right?? Us fans need to not watch races with the car of tomorrow…and not physically go to those races either…That will make nascar open its eyes and realize they are ruining an awesome sport!

January 4, 2007 at 4:27 pm
(29) Bracket Brat says:

Too many cooks spoil the broth. Too many changes dilute the interest of even the NASCAR-hearted fans. Pure and simple is best.

(30) MURPHY says:

NASCARS KEY SEASON WAS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, SINCE THEN IT’S ALL DOWNHILL. THEY DIDN’T LEARN THEN AND THEY WON’T LEARN NOW. IT’S MONEY, MONEY, MONEY AND TO HELL WITH THE FAN. I KEEP HOPING BUT I DON’T SEE MUCH TO LOOK FOWARD TO. I WISH SOMEONE WITH MONEY WOULD ATTEMPT TO START A NEW RACING CIRCUIT WITH SOME OF THE OLD TRACKS AND REAL STOCK CARS AND REAL DRIVERS THAT TRY TO WIN.

January 4, 2007 at 4:56 pm
(31) Vicki says:

Well well everything changes but I love nascar and they will have my 100% support …times change and they have to try and adjust to changes as long as I can still watch listen and go to races i am happy it is still here a true Nascar fan would understand new or old!!!!!!!!!!

January 4, 2007 at 5:15 pm
(32) Jim says:

Real fans my butt. A real fan of Nascar doesn’t care that much about change along as he has a race to go to. It still takes as much to drive a Toyota as a Chevrolet or a Ford. Why would you care how many cars Roush or anyone else has as long as there are 43 cars in field. The car of the future will hit the wall just as hard at 190 as any car ever has. A real fan has racing in his soul. His blood is part gasoline and he doesn’t care what kind of car it is.

January 4, 2007 at 5:25 pm
(33) i says:

i totally agree with mark. they need to drop all of the computers and race like Dale Earnhardt would have. i still love nascar, no matter what. (in the movie Night at the Museum- Sorry south, you loose, North wins. But hey, you got stuff like nascar (somethig like that))
but really, most of it makes the cars a whole lot safer. Dale was killed, lets not have anyone else!

January 4, 2007 at 5:42 pm
(34) George says:

WHAT CAN I SAY MORE ABOUT THE (NASCAR)
DOWN HILL SLIDE I AGREE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE (NASCAR) IS DOING TO CIRCLE TRACK RACING WHAT THE (NHRA) DID TO DRAG RACING IN THE 70S IT’S ALL MONEY IT’S NOT A SPORT ANY MORE!!!!!!!!!

January 4, 2007 at 6:09 pm
(35) 48smokesth20 says:

Vicki(31) & Jim(32)……..Bravo! I totally agree.

January 4, 2007 at 6:15 pm
(36) Ron says:

So much for the “good old boys” racing on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. It seems anymore it’s the “brat pack” and their high dollar sponsors, the car of tomorrow, and what?–a toyota now racing in the great american sport. I’ve bought the last race ticket I’m going to buy from Nascar, and I’m spending my money on the hometown racing thats still American and shows skill and determination. And hey Jim, QUOTE #32, I bet you drive a Toyota.

January 4, 2007 at 6:27 pm
(37) Bill says:

Where Fox and NBC blew their coverage was not only too many commercials but always talking about the same handful of drivers, i.e., JJ, JR, JG along with Stewart and Kennseth but only if they were running good. As far as the points go, get rid of the chase but let the teams toss out one result for every 6 races. Lesson their penalty for getting taken out in the big one at Daytona or Talladega.

January 4, 2007 at 7:50 pm
(38) Bud says:

I’m 74 years old,and will never pay to see a race with the cot or watch it on tv. Go back to the basic stock cars and the point system. What happened to the old tailgate parties at the tracks. You are treated like a criminal if you bring in a bottle of water. When I pay $150.00 for a ticket I expect a little bit of respect. Sorry NASCAR My family and friends spend close to $3,000 at the California Speedway twice a year. We have gotten together and won’t be spending a dime this year. Won’t go to Phoenix either.

January 4, 2007 at 8:04 pm
(39) drewski says:

Bill France, I hope you read all these, and take action.Cause we all love real racing. But its no fun if its boaring.I think Dale Sr is turning over in his grave right now. He would wreck a toyota before he would race one.And he would not let you change a thing. If you change the rules you change the game.now its not fun.

(40) David says:

January 4, 2007

I have been a NASCAR fan since 1978. NASCAR, with their massive limitations and ever tightening restrictions on teams, drivers, engines, speeds, and the straw that broke the camels back is of course the car of tomorrow has finally chased me away! My last season was 2006 since NASCAR now races experimental cars that have nothing whatsoever in common with a stock car (production car).

While searching the internet today, I came upon Unlimited Stcok Car Automobile Racing. According to what I read, these guys are taking “stock car racing back to it’s roots.” Check them out at http://www.heartcorporation.com/Unlimited_Stock_Car_Automobile_Racing_USCAR.htm.

(41) Janet Harshbarger says:

The point system sucks ! BIG TIME !!

January 4, 2007 at 9:34 pm
(42) Mike. S says:

I sent Brain France with a couple of ideas, like how to eleminate restrictor plate racing, by eleminating all aero packages, and make the car templates match a show room car. Also, do away with the chase, it stinks. As for the “Car of Tomorrow” junk it. It will make NASCAR nothing more than a glorfied IROC series. Brain France should turn the series back over to Bill France Jr. There are to many rules lets make it a lot more simply. Ticket prices are way to high, should be lowered so a family can go, it is suppose to be a family sport.

January 4, 2007 at 10:29 pm
(43) GAF says:

Let’s go back to “run what you brung” and see who is really the best. Even better, remember the days when you drove your car to the track and then drove it home (that is if it wasn’t on the back of a wrecker). What happened to “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday”. If I had any control over the auto industry marketing dollars I’d pull every last red cent when the COT debuts. Let’s see how NASCAR (which might I remind them stands for National Association of STOCK CAR Racing, not COT) would survive without those dollars. Right now the only good thing a race is for is to watch the start, take a nap, and wake up in time for the last 50 laps.

January 4, 2007 at 10:40 pm
(44) Dot Thurman says:

I’ve been a NASCAR fan since 1993. I am so disappointed to see so many changes
taking place. NASCAR is not NASCAR any
more. Whoever thought of the COT? I sure
won’t be adding the stupid looking car toMY collection. The 10 car chase idea is unfair. The old point system gave all
the drivers a fairer chance. The only change I thought needed to be done was to add extra points to the driver who won each race. I think the changes have
defeated the purpose of being fairer to
the drivers, as well as the sponsors. When the crowds decrease at races, races
that are televised have less fans watching the races, proceeds at the race
tracks drop way down from lack of attendance, MAYBE THEN those responsible
for all these needless stupid changes will get the message … FANS MADE NASCAR what it is and FANS WILL BREAK NASCAR for what you are now trying to do to racing. You did it for money; but without FANS there won’t be any money.
Either love racing or leave it. Good advice from fans is GET BACK TO REAL RACING and drop this stupid “Car of Tomorrow” idea. Otherwise, expect racing to die. You’re burying it so don’t look for sympathy when you finish
killing it. Wake up before it’s too late.

i stopped watching nascar when that fat slobb started climing the fence

January 5, 2007 at 8:10 am
(46) Sapphyre says:

I watched every race last season. It was absolutely exciting whether it was Busch or Nextel Cup! The rules are a bit much but I think NASCAR is just looking out for the drivers. No matter if they come to the track in a Dodge, Ford, Chevy or Mitzubishi for that matter, it’s the drama and the fight to the finish that ultimatly makes the race … NOTHING can take that away!

January 5, 2007 at 9:15 am
(47) Franklin R Barnard says:

NASCAR is fastly pricing themselfs out of business, that’s their main problem..

(48) MURPHY says:

HEY SAPPHYRE NASCAR TOOK ALL THE DRAMA AWAY SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN THEY STARTED WRITING A SCRIPT FOR THE RACES. WHEN SO MANY RACES HAVE A YELLOW FLAG NEAR THE END SO THERE WILL BE ONE BIG BUNCH OF CARS RACING TO THE FLAG YOU KNOW ITS FIXED. THE DRIVERS DON’T EVEN TRY TO WIN, ONLY TO PROTECT THERE PLACE IN THE POINT STANDINGS.

January 5, 2007 at 10:24 am
(49) my take says:

You know it’s fixed when they throw a yellow flag out when there is peice of paper or a cup on the track. You thought it was exciting last year? New to Nascar uh? The local track has Nascar beat now.

January 5, 2007 at 10:24 am
(50) Bob says:

Nascar is fast becoming as boreing as a track meet. The cars are so much alike it’s the driver who has the most luck that wins. The cot will be even worse. As far as cheating and getting caught, big deal.Let me cheat and win a big race, fine me 25,000.00, then take the money out of my 200,.000.00 first place purse.BIG DEAL.Take the first place purse, give it and the points to second place, second place to third ect. That would stop the cheating.P.S.NO TOYOTAS.

(52) linda says:

nascar you shouldnt change a good thing. remember the old saying (if it aint broke dont try to fix it) by the looks of things your trying to break it, & your gonna have alot of fixing to do, to put it back together. and you might not ever be able to put it back together, so why ruin & break a good thing!!!!!!!

January 5, 2007 at 1:45 pm
(53) Dan Hesseltine says:

I think NASCAR is making a big mistake with the car of tomarrow, as has been said by many many many people they need to get back to racing like they use too!!!The cars that are on the show room floor let the MFG fight out the designs like before, if you want to run a two door car make FORD, CHRY, build one. Thank you for your time.

January 5, 2007 at 3:26 pm
(54) Dale Jr. fan says:

the same thing is going to happen to NASCAR that is happening to the NHRA everyone is leaving to go to the Irha. The NHRA has gotten so greedy they forgot who the fans were. I believe in safty for the drivers without question. I do believe however that racing is just what the word says, racing who can go fastest and win.restiictor plates aren’t a safety factor thats for sure.
Mr france should be listening to the fans. and quit worrying about his pocet book, it’s fat enough already.

RIGHT ON R CLOUD GOOD IDEA. SORRY BOB ANGEL THERE HAVEN’T BEEN ANY FORDS, CHEVIES, DODGES, ETC FOR SEVERAL YEARS ONLY THE NAME BADGES OF THOSE CARS. NASCAR DOESN’T LIKE CARS THAT LOOK DIFFERENT. JERRY, IF YOU EVER GET A CHANGE TO SEE A NASCAR RACE FROM THE 60′S OR 70′S ON TAPE WATCH IT AND YOU’LL SEE WHAT REAL RACING WAS. TONYS OK BUT FAR FROM THE GREATEST.

I have been a NASCAR fan since 1990. I was lucky enough to be able to watch some of the greatest drivers ever. Well, no more. Last years racing was so boring, and now this COT, well no more watching the races, or forking out major amounts of money to buy tickets for the races. france, you messed up, I give it 2 years, and they will be scratching their heads, asking “WHAT HAPPENED”.

I’f NASCAR cared about the fans more than the money we would still have races at Rockingham. Ask the drivers if they would like to race at The Rock again and you’ll see that it’s not even about whwat the drivers would like to do. It’s all about $$$$$$. Your all out there slamming each other and missing the point. They themselves (NASCAR) is ruining the sport. Bashing each others drivers is the norm we are the fans of those. But look at the ticket prices and rules, Hell the drivers have to go to school to learn them. Let them run what they brung as in old school racing. stop the BS. Let them RACE. And stop price gouging the fans$$$$ Nextel what a laugh :p Stay with your phones!

To all I’m not trying to make anybody mad just making a point…think about this I think nascar favors chevy when D.J was winning they changed the rules. when M.K. was winning they changed the rules. when dodge was winning they changed the nose and would not let dodge change there nose. whats going on. and one more thing I’m not a toyota fan but thats the only car built in the us. just think about it!!

Its simple the ratings are down because of the dang schedule and race times. Think of all the hype daytona brings then all of a sudden after that race its a off weekend so after football season there is like 3 or 4 weeks of nothing so you make plans. Well after that off weekend you got what cali in which they race at like 4 or 4:30 est. Well unlike during football you have something at 1pm to keep you sitting on the couch but now nascar goes to 4 pm so that afternoon your wife makes plans cause nothing is on and your idle and a wife want have that lol. So now your out of the house and good chance you want make the 4pm race start and prolly miss half if not all of the race. Well anyway except for high profile races late start times to accomodate the west coast is the culprit of bad ratings. You never really get into the season and that kills the whole excitment of each race. So get back to the basics nascar you hardcore fans that buy tickets and merchandise mainly live in central or east coast and by makeing drastic changes to shedule to make sure west coast is watching in prime time is putting the rest of us to sleep.

Cdracing, So you think the people in the west should kiss your feet? So in your theroy, tell us why is it that Dover and several others Tracks in the EAST was not as full once was? they start roughy around 11;30 AM east time. The ratings are down because Nascar is boring. Ten lap cautions, etc.

If the has a center seat for safety, I am all for that especially side impacts. But what bothers me is one: I can’t tell a Ford from a Dodge anymore except for the nose and 2: Get the nextel drivers out of the Bush league except for the rookies that could use a bit more time on the track.

Lets do away with the point system for the top ten and give more points for winning race so the drivers will be trying to win ever race instead just running around the track.lets get back to to racing like it used to be–fun to watch.i’m still teed off because nacar wouldnt come to ky speedway.

I am sorry to say but the ratings are down because of the inconsistencies in the sport. For all of you JG and JJ fans….these two drivers get more breaks than any other driver!!! I think Hendrick pays off Nascar officials just like he paid off Bill Clinton and got pardoned and released from prison! Hey, I am all about the best man winning, but I want to see it done legitimately, and not because you have officials on your side! The early 90’s was when Nascar was at it’s greatest, and everyone got out there and earned their positions. There was no lucky DAWG. JJ has been awarded more lucky dawgs than any other driver, and won the freaking championship, with the most lucky dawgs….Give me a freaking break! My cousin is a famous Nascar driver and has been racing for 20 yrs…I am not going to mention his name, but I have been watching Nascar since he began racing, and it is no longer a legitimate sport. Tony Stewart called it right when he said it was like wrestling. It is all for show now, and it is extremely unfortunate for the true Nascar fans and the true drivers who truly put their heart and soul into a sport, week after week, when we all know what the outcome is going to be! Oh, and isn’t it convenient that the only drivers who dominate in the COT car happen to be on Hendricks team???? I don’t think I need to say anymore. For those of us who have been watching since the beginning, I think it is self explanatory!!!!
