Denny Hamlin Completes Pocono Sweep

Sunday July 23, 2006
2006 was the year of Denny Hamlin at Pocono Raceway. In June Hamlin won the first pole of his career and completed his successful weekend with the win. Today Hamlin again started on the pole and dominated the race. The Joe Gibbs Racing rookie was able to cruide to the easy win.

Defending series Champion Tony Stewart had an interesting day. Stewart let his temper get the best of him and got a one lap penalty from NASCAR. That penalty dropped Stewart as far back as 41st in the running order. Tony Stewart recovered to finish seventh, battling his way back into a critical top ten points position.

I think something needs to be done about the drivers retaliating against oneanother. While Tony Stewart preaches patiences he is the biggest offender. His bumping the 07 car into Carl Edwards is just his latiest. The one lap penality was nothing more than a slap on the hand. For all intensive purposes he has put Carl Edwards out of the Nextel Race. Jeff Gordon got a fine and probation for pushing another driver and Tony just gets a one lap penality. I believe if you check Tony Stewart is involved in more incidents on the track than any other driver. Of course he is never wrong. He has a very big ego and if NASCAR don’t take appropriate action with more sever penalities it will only get worse. He compaired himself to the late Dale Earnhardt but he is NO Dale. Tony is just a big kid that needs to grow up. I hope I didn’t remble on too much. I have never commented like this before but felt something needed to be said.

Ron – The penalty Jeff Gordon received was for a physical altercation. He DID NOT get penalized at Chicagoland for intentionally spinning Kenseth. It seems Tony constantly gets one lap penalties for this action by Jeff NEVER does.

Ron Hardwig hit the nail on the head. Tony should be fined heavily. He cost a couple guys millions knocking them out of the chase. He always puts himself right there in the bite if a driver drifts up on a corner and then blames them. Carl should kick his ass.

We only see the “new, mature Tony Stewart” when he is winning. He really hasn’t changed at all. I thought NASCAR was supposed to be made up of professional drivers. NASCAR would be much better off without him. Get Stewart off the track, and let’s race!
