Jeff Gordon Wins A Wild One

Sunday February 20, 2005
With way too many wrecks and near-wrecks the 2005 Daytona 500 was a classic restrictor plate race. Tony Stewart lead most of the day as nobody really even tried to pass until the end. With four lead changes and two wrecks in the last nine laps and a green-white-checkers sprint at the end the finish was definitely exciting.

Congrats to Jeff Gordon on becoming a three-time Daytona 500 champion. I'm also happy to see that everybody walked away today without any serious injuries.

Now we can head off to California next week and begin the "real" NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season.

The unofficial Daytona 500 finishing order can be found here at NASCAR Online.
