Hamilton Wins Daytona Truck Race

Friday February 18, 2005
Wow, what a show the Craftsman Truck Series put on tonight under the lights in Daytona. Jimmy Spencer had the lead for the green-white-checkers finish. When they came to take the white flag there was a huge wreck as Spencer and Bobby Hamilton were side-by-side. NASCAR freezes the field when the yellow comes out and by a few inches, declared Bobby Hamilton the winner. Tough break for Spencer but this was the right call.

Bobby had laid back, well back, off of the lead pack all night long and it paid off as the truck series drivers bent up a lot of sheetmetal tonight. He won the 2004 truck series title by being smart, and fast. Tonight he showed both of those traits again. Bobby is off to a good start in 2005 and may be hard to beat for the title.
