Childress Gives Gordon Probation

Thursday September 23, 2004
After admitting that he intentionally wrecked Greg Biffle in Loudon on Sunday in New Hampshire Robby Gordon appears to be getting off fairly easy. That incident also collected Chase for the Cup contenders Jeremy Mayfield and Tony Stewart. NASCAR penalized him two laps during the race and today car owner Richard Childress announced that Robby was "on probation" through the end of the season.

Despite their denials I still think that Robby Gordon will lose that ride this year. Primary sponsor Cingular has to be very angry over the bad publicity they are getting by sponsoring this dolt.

Now that it is no longer possible to race in the Indianapolis 500 and still make the start of the Coca-Cola 600 I think that Robby will be fired (although they may claim that he leaves voluntarily) and will go back to the IRL so that he can run the Indy 500 again.

NASCAR Online has the statement from Richard Childress about the probation.
