Hot 2003 Teams Continue Where They Left Off

Sunday February 22, 2004
It looks like the hot teams from last season are continuing right where they left off. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won a restrictor plate race. Ryan Newman won the pole for this week's race and 2003 Winston Cup Champion Matt Kenseth picked up the win today.

Surprisingly it was all young guns up front at the end today. I really expected the older guys to run well with the soft tires on Rockingham's abrasive track but one one hundredth of a second behind Kenseth was rookie Kasey Kahne in Bill Elliott's old #9. Also right there with them in third was 2003 Raybestos Rookie Of The Year Jamie McMurray. Check out the unofficial standings at NASCAR Online.
