Spencer Suspended for Bristol

Monday August 18, 2003
For ramming, then jumping out of his car and punching, Kurt Busch after yesterday's race Jimmy Spencer has been suspended from all NASCAR competition until August 26th. In addition Jimmy has been fined $25,000 and still faces possible criminal charges.

NASCAR Online has the official announcement. In addition to the suspension and fine for Spencer, both drivers have been put on probation through the end of the year.

Aw! Just when the guys are headed to the close confines of Bristol Motor Speedway where this whole feud started Spencer isn't going to be on the track. That's unfortunate because the necessary bump-and-grind style of racing the Bristol features is a great environment for a NASCAR battle to explode.

Maybe NASCAR should listen to an appeal for a couple of weeks and let the TV ratings soar as fans tune in to see what will happen on the high-banked short track? Suspend Spencer at a boring race (Talladega) instead of Bristol!
